Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 campaign trailer puts Captain Price on the run

Activision and Infinity Ward have released the full campaign trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, giving a closer look at Captain Price’s new role as a fugitive. The trailer debuted at Tokyo Game Show and expands on the war unfolding across the Korean Peninsula.

The campaign follows Price after the assassination of General Shepherd and the collapse of Task Force 141. At the same time, North Korea launches a full-scale invasion of South Korea, creating a second conflict alongside the hunt for Price.

Price is operating outside the system after killing Shepherd at the end of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. His actions have divided the former members of Task Force 141, with Ghost questioning how far their former captain has gone.

Ghost and Gaz have now been ordered to capture or kill Price. The trailer shows them pursuing their former commander while he continues working independently. CIA Station Chief Kate Laswell remains in contact with Price, although the trailer suggests even she is becoming concerned about his methods. Activision has not explained exactly who issued the order against him.

With his former teammates pursuing him, Price turns to someone who was previously an enemy. Valeria Garza, also known as El Sin Nombre and the leader of the Las Almas Cartel, is shown working alongside him.

Their alliance is tied to a larger threat involving a mysterious weapon being moved toward an enemy known as the Archer. Activision has not revealed what the weapon can do or the Archer’s wider plans.

Valeria’s return also connects the campaign back to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, where she was introduced as one of Task Force 141’s major opponents.

The Korean conflict is shown from the perspective of Private Park Hyun Jun and his squad as they fight against the North Korean invasion. The trailer includes ground combat and an amphibious assault involving joint US and South Korean forces.

The campaign appears to follow two connected fronts. Price is carrying out his own operations while on the run, while South Korean soldiers fight to stop the invasion.

Infinity Ward has not detailed how often the story will switch between Price and Park or whether their paths eventually cross.

Players who digitally pre-order the Standard Edition or Vault Edition will be able to start the campaign on October 16. Early access will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, Battle.net, and Xbox on PC.

The full game launches worldwide on October 23, 2026, with campaign, multiplayer, and the returning DMZ mode. Infinity Ward is leading development, with Digital Legends working on the native Nintendo Switch 2 version.

Activision has not announced the campaign’s expected length or mission count. The Tokyo Game Show trailer instead focuses on Price being hunted by his former allies while a wider war develops across the Korean Peninsula.
