Modern Warfare 4 adds Shipment just days after launch

October 28, 2026·3 min read

Modern Warfare 4 brings back Shipment on October 27, expanding its 6v6 map lineup to 13 ahead of Season 1 and upcoming multiplayer modes.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has already expanded its multiplayer map pool, with Infinity Ward bringing Shipment back only four days after the game’s October 23 launch.

The classic 6v6 map became available on October 27 as part of the pre-Season 1 rollout. Infinity Ward had confirmed before launch that Shipment would arrive shortly after release, giving players another close-quarters option alongside the 12 standard 6v6 maps available on day one.

The Modern Warfare 4 version of Shipment is set at a Russian harbor surrounded by water and concrete structures. Infinity Ward has kept the recognizable layout, with shipping containers creating extremely short sightlines, tight corners and near-constant close-range combat.

Shipment has appeared repeatedly across the Modern Warfare branch of Call of Duty since debuting in 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Its compact design has made it a popular choice for earning XP, completing weapon challenges and playing matches where players return to the action almost immediately after spawning.

Its return also gives MW4 a very different option from several of its larger launch maps. Players who prefer fast matches and short-range firefights now have a dedicated environment built around that style of play.

Infinity Ward released Modern Warfare 4 with 12 standard 6v6 maps: Cachette, Coal, Lithium, Lotus, Mumbai, Munition, Nautical, Reactor U92, Rooftops, Sentry, Silkworm and Transit 213.

The wider multiplayer package also includes three 32v32 Ground War environments, four dedicated 2v2 Gunfight maps and Kill Block. The latter uses a modular layout that can change between rounds and includes sections inspired by familiar Modern Warfare locations such as Crash, Highrise and Shoot House.

Shipment raises the standard 6v6 selection to 13 maps less than a week after launch. Infinity Ward has also said more multiplayer content will arrive with Season 1, although the studio has not yet revealed its complete seasonal map roadmap.

More modes are coming before Season 1

Shipment is part of a broader group of additions planned for the pre-Season 1 period. Infinity Ward has also confirmed that Infected and the new Possession mode will arrive around Halloween, giving players more ways to play before the first full season begins.

Infected returns with one player beginning on the infected team before eliminated survivors join them. Possession works differently by moving players into the body and loadout of opponents they eliminate, meaning every kill can immediately change a player’s position, weapon setup and tactical options.

Infinity Ward has also released several updates since launch addressing crashes, UI problems, progression bugs and DMZ issues. Multiplayer XP in Search and Destroy and Collateral has already been adjusted, while further weapon tuning is expected as the studio continues responding to early player data.

Shipment is a content addition rather than a launch fix, but its arrival gives players one of the franchise’s most recognizable maps while Infinity Ward continues refining Modern Warfare 4 ahead of Season 1.
