Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse demo launches October 1 with save transfer

September 21, 2026·3 min read

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse gets a free October 1 demo covering its opening chapter, with progress carrying into the full game.

Konami has announced a free demo for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, giving players a chance to try the opening chapter before the full game launches later in October. The demo will be available on October 1 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam.

Progress made in the demo can be transferred into the full game when it launches on October 15. Players will need to use the same platform and account for the transfer to work.

Konami says the demo will include the opening chapter of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. Some features and content will be restricted compared with the full release, although the publisher has not detailed exactly what will be unavailable.

Save data from the demo must remain on the system until players transfer it. The full game will also need to be updated to its latest version before the saved progress can be carried across.

The demo will run at 60 frames per second on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The Nintendo Switch version is listed at 30 frames per second.

Rose Belmont leads the new Castlevania story

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is set in Paris in 1499, 23 years after the events of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. The story follows Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont, as monstrous creatures begin appearing across the burning city.

Trevor also appears in the story, with both characters drawn into a larger threat connected to Dracula’s castle. Rose uses the Vampire Killer whip while exploring the city, catacombs, and other areas. The game is being developed by Evil Empire, with Dead Cells studio Motion Twin serving in an advisory role.

Rose can use the Vampire Killer for both combat and movement, including swinging through environments and reaching new areas. Players will also be able to customize her fighting style using weapons and Relics found during exploration.

Bosses including Death, Medusa, and Carmilla return alongside new enemies such as Joan of Arc. Defeated bosses can be sealed into Rose’s tarot cards and turned into Arcana, unlocking spells and other special abilities. Konami has also confirmed seven weapon categories, giving players different options for building Rose around their preferred style.

The full game arrives two weeks after the demo

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse launches on October 15 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The demo arrives exactly two weeks earlier on October 1.

Zero1Gaming previously covered the game’s reveal in June. The newly announced demo gives players their first opportunity to begin the campaign at home and carry that progress directly into the full release later in the month.
