September 15, 2026·2 min read
Jagex will take RuneScape: Dragonwilds out of Early Access on September 15, 2026. The survival crafting game will reach version 1.0 after more than a year of development. The full release will also bring the game to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 alongside PC.
As of September 14, Dragonwilds remains in Steam Early Access. Jagex says the game has sold more than one million copies since launching there in April 2025.
Scorned Wilderness arrives with version 1.0

The main new addition at launch is Scorned Wilderness, the next major region in Ashenfall and the conclusion of the Kuldra storyline. Players will face Kuldra, the God Eater, through a new raid and boss encounter.
Version 1.0 will also include everything added during Early Access. Previous updates introduced the Umbral Sands desert region, the red dragon Fuzan, magic carpet mounts, and RuneScape materials including Adamant, Red Dragonhide, and Yew.
Jagex has also updated several parts of the game ahead of launch. The Agility skill received new courses, rewards, and changes to how players progress through it.
Dragonwilds expands beyond Steam

The September 15 release will make RuneScape: Dragonwilds available on PC through Steam, the Jagex Launcher, and the Epic Games Store. It will launch the same day on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Xbox Game Pass subscribers will get access at launch. The game will also join PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, while Switch 2 will receive a digital Standard Edition.
Physical editions are planned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X later in 2026, although Jagex has not announced an exact date.

The survival spin-off takes RuneScape into a different genre
Dragonwilds is a standalone game set in the wider RuneScape universe rather than another version of Jagex's MMORPG. Players explore Ashenfall, a continent within Gielinor, either alone or with up to three other players.
Gameplay combines crafting, building, gathering, combat, and RuneScape-style skill progression. Magic also plays a role in survival, with spells used for tasks such as cutting trees, mining resources, and escaping danger.
Familiar creatures, materials, and skills connect the game to RuneScape, but its open-world survival structure separates it from both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds reaches version 1.0 on September 15. It will launch across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, with Scorned Wilderness included as part of the full release.
