Gen.G beat Hanwha Life Esports 3-1 to win the 2026 LCK Championship

Gen.G defeated Hanwha Life Esports 3-1 in the 2026 LCK Grand Final on September 13, securing a second consecutive Korean championship. The victory also sends Gen.G to the 2026 League of Legends World Championship as the LCK’s first seed.

Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk was named Finals MVP after another strong series from Gen.G’s AD carry. Hanwha Life took the opening game, but Gen.G responded with three straight wins to close the best-of-five.

Hanwha Life won a tight opening game despite a late comeback attempt from Gen.G. Gen.G had closed much of the gold gap by around the 34-minute mark, but Hanwha Life won the next fight and finished the game.

Gen.G answered immediately in game two. Kiin picked up early kills on Varus, while Chovy’s Lissandra and Canyon’s Nocturne put constant pressure on Hanwha Life’s bottom lane. The advantage continued growing through the mid game, allowing Gen.G to level the series at 1-1.

Ruler’s Zeri helps Gen.G move ahead

Ruler became the focus of game three on Zeri. He picked up three early kills as Gen.G also built control around neutral objectives, putting Hanwha Life under pressure before the decisive fight arrived.

Hanwha Life challenged Gen.G around the dragon at roughly 20 minutes, but the engagement ended in a full team wipe. Gen.G used the win to secure Baron and take more towers before closing the game and moving one victory away from the title.

Gen.G then completed the comeback in game four. Hanwha Life made the stronger start, but Gen.G kept the game close before winning an important fight near the bottom lane. Another win near the dragon gave Gen.G control, and its damage dealers were able to take over the final stages of the game.

Ruler received the 2026 LCK Finals MVP award after helping Gen.G close the series. The title also makes him the first player in LCK history to win the Finals MVP award twice.

The championship continues Gen.G’s recent domestic run after the organization also defeated Hanwha Life 3-1 in the 2025 LCK final. Gen.G has now won consecutive LCK championships and seven Korean league titles overall.

Gen.G qualify for Worlds as the LCK’s first seed

The result determines the top two Korean seeds for the 2026 World Championship. Gen.G will attend as the LCK’s first seed, while Hanwha Life Esports qualify as the second seed after finishing runner-up.

T1 and Dplus KIA complete the LCK lineup for Worlds as the third and fourth seeds. Gen.G will now move from its domestic title defense to the World Championship, which begins in October.
