League of Legends Is Opening Voice Chat to Full Teams in Patch 26.20

League of Legends players will soon be able to speak directly with teammates they meet through matchmaking, with Riot Games expanding its built-in voice chat beyond premade parties.
Team Voice will begin rolling out with Patch 26.20 in North America and Oceania, with microphone access tied to Honor Level 3.
League Voice currently works between players who enter matchmaking together as a premade party. Team Voice extends that system to all five players, allowing solo players and smaller groups to speak with teammates they were matched with.
Riot first confirmed plans for Team Voice in March after files connected to the feature appeared on the PBE. At the time, the developer said safety and reliability remained priorities and did not provide a launch window.
Riot will restrict speaking through Team Voice to players at Honor Level 3 or higher. Riot said in March that players would need to be in good standing to access Team Voice but had not yet settled on the exact requirement.
Moderation remains a major part of Riot's rollout plan. The studio says it will only bring Team Voice to servers where it is confident the feature can be properly supported, while work on the wider Honor system will continue so it better reflects player behavior during matches.
Players who do not want to use voice are not being forced to replace the game's existing communication tools. Text chat and pings remain part of League of Legends alongside the new system.
North America and Oceania will receive Team Voice first with Patch 26.20, currently scheduled for October 7. Riot has not announced when other regions will gain access.
Future expansion will depend on how the first rollout performs and whether Riot believes it can provide enough moderation support on additional servers.
The voice system is also receiving better noise cancellation, faster connections, and stability improvements ahead of the launch. Riot is adding voice skins as well, allowing players to alter how they sound while keeping speech clear enough to understand during matches.
