Nintendo Says It Has Nothing to Announce About GTA 6 on Switch 2

October 12, 2026·2 min read

Nintendo says it has nothing to announce about GTA 6 on Switch 2 and has directed questions to Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive. The game is still scheduled for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no additional platform versions announced.

Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard has responded to questions about Grand Theft Auto VI coming to Nintendo Switch 2, but the company has no announcement to make about a potential release.

Speaking to Variety, Pritchard directed questions about the possibility of a Switch 2 version to Rockstar Games and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive. Her comments neither confirm nor rule out a future port.

Rockstar currently plans to release Grand Theft Auto VI on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. No Switch 2 version has been announced.

Pritchard was asked whether Rockstar's upcoming open-world game could eventually launch on Nintendo's latest console. "That's going to be a conversation for Take Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time," she told Variety.

The response leaves the decision with the game's publisher and developer. However, it does not establish whether discussions about a Switch 2 version have taken place.

Pritchard also did not address the technical feasibility of bringing GTA 6 to Nintendo's hardware. There has been no official confirmation that Rockstar is developing or testing a Switch 2 port.

GTA 6 remains confirmed only for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

Rockstar's official website continues to list November 19 as the release date for Grand Theft Auto VI. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S remain the only confirmed launch platforms.

The game follows Jason and Lucia through Vice City and the fictional state of Leonida. Rockstar has released trailers and additional details about the upcoming adventure, but its announcements have not included a Nintendo version.

Take-Two already supports Switch 2 with games such as NBA 2K26 and Civilization VII. However, those releases do not indicate whether Rockstar intends to bring its next Grand Theft Auto game to the console.

There is also no announced release window for a PC version or any other additional platform. For now, Nintendo's response leaves the possibility of GTA 6 on Switch 2 unresolved. Rockstar and Take-Two have yet to announce plans beyond the confirmed PlayStation and Xbox releases.
