New Switch 2 Game Mamon King Brings Pokémon-Style Monster Battles With a Twist

October 8, 2026·3 min read

Mamon King has launched on Nintendo Switch 2, bringing Pokémon-style turn-based battles, 38 trainable monsters, and a new Gallery Mode, but existing Switch saves cannot transfer.

A new monster-raising game called Mamon King is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, offering a different approach to the creature training and turn-based battles found in Pokémon.

Developed and published by LiTMUS, the game arrived on Switch 2 on October 8, 2026. It features 38 unique monsters, more than 170 skills, and a system that challenges players to raise powerful creatures and win tournaments. However, unlike Pokémon, the emphasis is on training individual monsters and managing their development rather than assembling a team of creatures.

In Mamon King, players can connect with creatures called Mamons that have been summoned from another world. Their goal is to train these monsters and defeat increasingly powerful opponents until they earn the title of Mamon King.

Each of the 38 Mamons has different strengths, preferred training activities, and a limited lifespan. Players must manage their development carefully instead of simply gaining experience through battles.

Training is organized around weekly decisions. Players can focus on improving their Mamon's abilities, enter tournaments, or embark on expeditions to develop their creature further. Expeditions use a board game-style format and allow players to explore unfamiliar territories where ancient Mamons are rumored to exist.

The game also includes Inheritance Summoning. This system allows players to pass on power developed through previous training, giving their efforts lasting value beyond a single monster's lifespan.

Combat takes place through one-on-one, turn-based encounters. Players choose between attacking, defending, improving their own statistics, and weakening their opponents.

There are more than 170 skills available, but using them requires SP. Stronger abilities consume more resources and may come with additional drawbacks, making resource management an important part of each fight. Skills can also improve through repeated use, giving players another reason to develop their Mamons over time.

Although the monster battles resemble Pokémon at a glance, Mamon King places more importance on preparing a single creature for competition. Its combination of training schedules, limited lifespans, and inheritance mechanics gives it a distinct identity.

Mamon King originally launched on Nintendo Switch on December 11, 2025. The new Switch 2 edition is a separate release rather than the game's first appearance on Nintendo hardware. Its main addition is an exclusive Gallery Mode featuring background artwork and music from the game.

However, LiTMUS has confirmed an important restriction for returning players. Save data from the original Switch release cannot be transferred to the Switch 2 edition. Anyone purchasing the newer version must start their progress again.

The original Switch version is already playable on Switch 2 through backward compatibility. Nintendo's store listing warns existing owners to check which version they are buying, since the new edition does not support their previous saves.

Mamon King for Nintendo Switch 2 is available digitally through the Nintendo eShop. LiTMUS has also announced a physical Game-Key Card edition for Japan, with an early-purchase sticker bonus. The game supports English and Japanese and is designed for single-player play.
