Monster Hunter Wilds comes to Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4

September 11, 2026·2 min read
Capcom will release Monster Hunter Wilds for Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2026. The game arrives on Nintendo’s current hardware more than a year after its original launch.

The Switch 2 edition will include previously released Title Update content and support both local wireless multiplayer and online cross-platform play. The release also extends to Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, Capcom’s paid expansion planned for 2027. Switch 2 will receive the expansion alongside PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Switch 2 launches with existing Title Update content

The Switch 2 edition will arrive with the major content Capcom has added to Monster Hunter Wilds since launch. That includes the Grand Hub, returning monsters such as Mizutsune and Lagiacrus, and the Final Fantasy XIV Online collaboration.

This means Nintendo players will begin with a broader version of the game than the one released for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in February 2025. Capcom is also preparing a free Prologue Demo for Switch 2, although a release date for that demo has not yet been announced.

Local wireless joins cross-platform multiplayer

Up to four Switch 2 players can hunt together using local wireless play. Online multiplayer will also support cross-platform play with players on the existing versions.

A Nintendo Switch Online membership will be required for online multiplayer. The game will support TV, tabletop, and handheld modes, making Switch 2 the first Nintendo platform to receive Monster Hunter Wilds in a portable format.

Capcom sets a lower price for the Switch 2 release

The digital Standard Edition will carry a $39.99 US MSRP, with Capcom offering a $29.99 preorder price from October 19 through December 3. A Gold Edition and physical Deluxe Edition are also planned, with the physical release using Nintendo’s Game-Key Card format.

Nintendo lists the game at approximately 39.1 GB. Capcom has not yet detailed resolution targets, frame-rate modes, or other performance settings for the Switch 2 version.

Ascendance will follow in 2027

Switch 2 support will continue after launch with Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance. Capcom says the expansion will continue the main story while adding new quest ranks, locations, monsters, and expanded weapon actions.

An exact release date and price for Ascendance have not been announced. Before the December 4 launch, Capcom still has the Switch 2 Prologue Demo and the port’s technical performance details to reveal.
