Over the Hill will launch for PC through Steam on October 14, 2026, developers Funselektor and Strelka Games have confirmed. The off-road exploration game will then come to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.
The release date follows a Steam Next Fest demo that attracted more than 500,000 players. Over the Hill has also passed 1.2 million Steam wishlists ahead of launch.
Over the Hill comes from Funselektor, the studio behind Art of Rally, alongside Strelka Games. Instead of focusing on racing, the new game sends players into open areas with vehicles inspired by classic 4x4s from the 1960s through the 1980s.
Players can follow trails or leave them behind while searching forests, lakesides, mountains, cabins, viewpoints, and other landmarks. Dynamic weather and a day-night cycle can also change driving conditions during a trip.
The entire game supports solo play and online co-op for up to four players. Groups can use equipment such as winches and planks to get vehicles through mud, rocks, steep climbs, and other difficult terrain.
Vehicles can be upgraded and customized with equipment found while exploring. Players can also photograph wildlife, search for meteorites, and find portals that open access to new areas.
The October release will feature several areas across Canada and Algeria. Funselektor says the full versions of these regions contain more content than players saw during the earlier demo.
The developers have continued changing the game based on playtest feedback. Recent work has included better camera options, performance improvements, suspension changes, new vehicle categories, and adjustments to upgrades and cosmetics.
PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 players will have to wait longer. All three console versions are now scheduled for 2027, despite earlier plans to release the game across PC and consoles in 2026.
Funselektor has not announced exact console release dates yet. Over the Hill will arrive first on Steam on October 14, with its soundtrack also available separately as DLC when the PC version launches.
