Saros Adds Boss Rush and New Game Plus in Free Zenith Update

Saros is getting a major free update later in 2026, with Housemarque adding a dedicated boss rush mode, a tougher New Game Plus experience, and new accessibility options.

The Zenith update was revealed during PlayStation's September State of Play. Its biggest additions are Overlord Rush, which turns the game's Overlord battles into a score-based challenge, and Eclipse Layers, a new post-game mode built around harder runs, additional progression, and new modifiers.

Overlord Rush puts players through Saros' Overlord battles back-to-back instead of sending them through the wider campaign between encounters.

The mode is built around more than simply surviving each fight. Players can chase high scores and compare their results through integrated worldwide leaderboards, giving the boss encounters a competitive structure designed around repeated attempts and improvement.

Housemarque describes the mode as a return to the arcade-style score chasing associated with its earlier games. That makes Overlord Rush a different kind of endgame activity from replaying the campaign, with individual boss mastery and performance becoming the focus.

Zenith also introduces Eclipse Layers, Housemarque's version of New Game Plus.

The mode becomes available after completing Saros and sends players back to the beginning against a more challenging version of the game. Arjun can continue developing through additional progression options, while new Carcosan Modifiers allow players to change the conditions of later runs.

Housemarque is also adding new secrets and Trophies to Eclipse Layers, giving returning players more to find beyond simply fighting stronger enemies.

The two modes serve different parts of the post-game. Overlord Rush concentrates the game's biggest fights into a repeatable leaderboard challenge, while Eclipse Layers expands the full campaign for players who want another run with tougher conditions and more progression choices.

Housemarque is expanding Saros' accessibility settings alongside the new modes.

Zenith will add High-Contrast visuals, gyro aiming using the DualSense controller, and a toggleable Slow Game Speed option. The latter lets players reduce the pace of the action, providing another way to manage the game's fast combat without removing its encounters or progression systems.

The Zenith update will be available at no additional cost to Saros players later in 2026. Housemarque has not confirmed a specific release date yet.
