The Simpsons Game gets unofficial PC port from fans
July 20, 2026·3 min read
The Simpsons Game is now running natively on PC through a new fan-made recompilation project, nearly two decades after the 2007 release skipped the platform. The project was shared by developer YesterMester and is currently available for testing through GitHub.
This is not an official EA or Disney release. Players need a valid Xbox 360 copy of The Simpsons Game to use it, because the project works by recompiling the game’s Xbox 360 executable into native PC code rather than distributing the full game itself.
Fan project brings the 2007 game to PC
YesterMester announced the working PC recompilation through the Simpsons Hit & Run community on Reddit. The game’s CPU instructions have been fully recompiled to native PC code, making it playable without running the full Xbox 360 version through traditional emulation.
The project is still early, but the main breakthrough is already clear. The Simpsons Game can now run as a native PC build for testers who own the required Xbox 360 files.

The port still has known issues
The current version is not being presented as a polished final release. The developer has already listed several known problems, including missing characters or entities for a few seconds after a level loads, audio crunching, performance drops in some areas and flickering in the main menu UI.
Players can report other issues through the project’s GitHub page, and pull requests are open. That makes the port a community project rather than a finished consumer release, with fixes likely to come over time as more testers try it on different setups.
Mod support is coming next
The roadmap includes native GPU rendering, fixes for known issues, launcher improvements and modding support. That last point is one of the biggest reasons the project has caught attention, because a proper PC version could give The Simpsons Game a longer life through fan-made changes.
The Simpsons community already has a strong modding history around The Simpsons: Hit & Run, helped by tools such as Lucas’ Simpsons Hit & Run Mod Launcher. The 2007 game never had that same PC scene because it never received a Windows release.
The Simpsons Game has been harder to revisit
The Simpsons Game launched in 2007 for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP. It was developed by EA Redwood Shores and published by Electronic Arts, with a story that turned the Simpsons family into playable video game parodies.
Its absence from PC has made the game harder to preserve and revisit compared with Hit & Run, which had an official PC version. Console copies still exist, but modern access depends on original hardware, backward compatibility or emulation.
Testing is available now
The Simpsons Game recompilation is available now in testing form through YesterMester’s GitHub project. It is not a replacement for buying the game, and players need their own legally obtained Xbox 360 ISO to extract and patch the required file.
For now, the project gives fans the closest thing yet to a native PC version of The Simpsons Game. The next practical step is improving compatibility, fixing the current bugs and adding the mod support that could let the 2007 game build its own PC community.
