Solo Leveling: Arise adds Liu Zhigang as National Level Hunter
July 17, 2026·3 min read
Solo Leveling: Arise has officially added Liu Zhigang, one of the most powerful Hunters in the Solo Leveling universe. Netmarble introduced him in the June update as a new SSR Hunter, giving players access to China’s top-ranked National Level Hunter.
Liu Zhigang arrived in the game on June 4, 2026. His addition matters because National Level Hunters sit above standard S-Rank Hunters in the series, and Liu has long been one of the names fans expected to see in Solo Leveling: Arise.
Liu Zhigang Joins The Playable Roster
Liu Zhigang is now part of Solo Leveling: Arise as a playable SSR Hunter. Netmarble presents him as China’s representative 7-star Hunter and a National Level Hunter, making him one of the strongest human fighters in the franchise.
In the game, Liu Zhigang is a Fire-type Buster Hunter. His combat style uses both a sword and dao, giving him a weapon-switching identity that fits his reputation as a fighter skilled with many weapons.

The Update Expands Hunter: Origin
Liu Zhigang’s arrival is also tied to Hunter: Origin, Netmarble’s story content focused on Hunter backstories. The official Hunter: Origin page now includes Liu Zhigang, giving players more background on the character beyond his playable kit.
That is useful for a character who had limited screen time in the original story compared with Sung Jinwoo, Cha Hae-In or Thomas Andre. Solo Leveling: Arise has been using Hunter: Origin to give major Hunters more context, and Liu is one of the biggest names to receive that treatment.
National Level Hunters Carry Extra Weight
In Solo Leveling, National Level Hunters are treated as fighters beyond the normal S-Rank ceiling. Liu Zhigang is known as China’s strongest Hunter and one of the highest-ranked Hunters in the world.
His addition gives Solo Leveling: Arise another late-game power figure to build around. It also lets Netmarble keep expanding the roster beyond Korea’s main Hunters, which helps the game show more of the international scale that appears later in the original series.
That global scale is a big part of Solo Leveling’s later appeal. The story eventually grows into a world-level conflict, with top-ranked fighters from different countries becoming part of the larger power structure.
The June Update Adds More Than One Hunter
Liu Zhigang is the main draw of the June update, but he is not the only new addition. The update also includes new weapons for Sung Jinwoo, new boss content and fresh events for players to clear. Netmarble has also laid out more plans for the months ahead. The Q3 roadmap includes more character releases and major progression updates, along with future content linked to Sung Jinwoo’s stronger forms.
Solo Leveling: Arise Keeps Building Past The Anime
Solo Leveling: Arise is still one of the main ways fans can get new interactive content from the franchise while the anime moves toward later story arcs. The game has already gone beyond simple adaptation by adding side stories, playable Hunters and event content around characters who do not always get much room in the main plot.
Liu Zhigang is available now in Solo Leveling: Arise. Players can unlock him through the June update and follow his Hunter: Origin story while Netmarble continues its 2026 content rollout.
