Twitch Streamer Lodk Loses Finger After Climbing Fence at Rock in Rio

Brazilian Twitch streamer Lodk lost part of his right ring finger after climbing a fence near Rock in Rio during an IRL stream in the early hours of September 5.

Lodk, whose real name is Adalton Rodrigues, said he already had a ticket for the festival but was looking for a possible weakness in the security perimeter as part of the livestream. The stunt ended when a ring on his hand became caught on the fence as he climbed over.

Lodk and a friend were walking around the perimeter of Rock in Rio when he decided to climb one of the fences surrounding the festival grounds.

He later explained that the idea was to see whether there was a weakness in the security setup that would allow him to enter outside the normal public route. His friend remained on the other side filming the attempt.

While crossing the barrier, Lodk's ring became trapped on the fence. He made it over, but the injury was serious enough that he later required surgery. The streamer has since acknowledged that attempting the stunt was a mistake. He also said he had already bought a ticket and that the attempt was being done to create content around a possible security weakness.

Lodk was taken for medical treatment after the incident and underwent surgery on his injured hand. Part of his right ring finger was ultimately amputated. Lodk later said doctors were unable to reattach the injured part of his finger.

Lodk later removed the original Twitch broadcast because he was concerned the graphic footage could result in a penalty from the platform.

Speaking afterward, Lodk said he regretted climbing the fence but was trying to deal with what happened through humor rather than dwelling on the accident.

Rock in Rio said the area where Lodk climbed the fence was part of the Cidade do Rock perimeter but outside the authorized public access area. The organizers said the restricted area was monitored and warned visitors not to climb fences or attempt to enter through places that are not designated public entrances.

Rock in Rio also expressed regret over Lodk's injury.

Lodk has said he plans to continue his IRL streams after the accident, although he acknowledged that he needs to take fewer risks in future broadcasts.
