Witchbrook Delayed Again, Now Launching January 28, 2027

October 29, 2026·3 min read

Witchbrook shifts to January 28, 2027, bringing new gameplay footage, PS5 support and four-player co-op, with physical editions arriving later.

Chucklefish has delayed Witchbrook into 2027, confirming that the long-awaited magical life simulator will launch on January 28 instead of arriving in 2026. The announcement marks another postponement for the game, which was previously expected to release in winter 2025.

The developer revealed the new date alongside a gameplay trailer and confirmation that Witchbrook will also launch on PlayStation 5. Chucklefish has announced a $24.99 digital price and plans for physical editions, giving players a clearer picture of the release after years of development.

Chucklefish originally planned to release Witchbrook in winter 2025. However, the studio postponed the game to 2026 in October last year, explaining that it needed more time to bring together its detailed world, characters, and gameplay systems.

The latest announcement moves the release to January 28, 2027. Although this represents another delay, it is also the first time Chucklefish has committed to a specific launch date rather than a broader release window.

In its official announcement, Chucklefish thanked fans for their patience and said the additional development time had helped the team create a game it was proud of.

The studio has not identified a specific technical problem responsible for the latest postponement. Previous development updates discussed ongoing work on console ports, localization, gameplay balancing, and testing.

The release date announcement includes an extended gameplay trailer showing more of Witchbrook College and the surrounding seaside town of Mossport.

Players take the role of a witch-in-training, attending classes and completing assignments to develop their magical abilities. Subjects include Alchemy, Astrology, Tarot, and Rituals, with exams and a knowledge system helping players unlock new spells.

The trailer also introduces the college's ghostly Chancellor, nicknamed the Deadmaster by students. Other scenes feature potion-making, tarot readings, magical creatures, and additional character interactions.

Outside college, players can build friendships, pursue romantic relationships, and run a small business using their magical abilities. Activities include fishing, gardening, seasonal events, and renovating a woodland cottage.

Witchbrook will also support online cooperative multiplayer for up to four players. Friends can explore Mossport, attend classes, and experience the game's activities together.

PS5 joins the launch lineup alongside PC, Switch, and Xbox

Chucklefish has confirmed that Witchbrook will launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam. The PlayStation 5 version is a newly announced addition. Chucklefish credited porting partner PlayEveryWare for helping bring the game to Sony's console.

The digital edition will cost $24.99 in the United States, with regional prices to be announced closer to launch. The game will also be available through Xbox Game Pass on its release date. Ten languages have been confirmed, including English, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

Chucklefish is also preparing physical Standard and Collector's Editions. Both will arrive sometime after the initial digital release so their production does not affect the launch schedule. The studio has not yet confirmed their platforms, contents, prices, or preorder dates.
