Xbox Game Pass Is Removing A Lot More Games Very Soon

Xbox Game Pass subscribers have another deadline to deal with before the end of July, and this leaving-soon batch is not easy to ignore. Eight more games are currently set to leave the service on July 31, giving players only a short window to finish, sample, or buy anything they still care about.

The list includes Back to the Dawn, Celeste, Crusader Kings 3, Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord, My Friendly Neighborhood, Rain World, Sniper Elite: Resistance, and Whiskerwood. Most of these are leaving console, PC, and cloud, while Whiskerwood is listed for PC Game Pass.

This is a varied batch, which makes the removal date more annoying for different kinds of players. Platformer fans may look at Celeste, strategy players may still be deep in Crusader Kings 3, and stealth-action fans may not have finished Sniper Elite: Resistance yet.

The problem with a list like this is that not every game can be rushed in the same way. Celeste can be finished faster if players focus on the main story, but its harder challenges, collectibles, and extra stages can take much longer for anyone chasing a fuller run.

Longer games make the decision more difficult because players have less time to finish them before the deadline arrives. Crusader Kings 3 and Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord are not built around quick endings, so players may need to decide whether they are invested enough to buy them instead of trying to squeeze in a few rushed sessions.

Subscribers who want a shorter target should look at story-driven or more focused games first. My Friendly Neighborhood, Back to the Dawn, and Rain World may be easier to sample or push through than the biggest strategy games, depending on how much progress someone already has.

Sniper Elite: Resistance is another title worth checking sooner rather than later because it is a full campaign, not a small side experience. Players who care about stealth routes, collectibles, co-op, and optional objectives will need more time than a single final-night session.

Anyone who knows they cannot finish should check the Game Pass discount before the games leave. Microsoft usually gives members a purchase discount on titles leaving the library, and save data should remain tied to the account if players buy the game later.

Game Pass is still adding new games, so this is not a sign that the service has suddenly dried up. July has also brought fresh releases and returning titles, which is part of how the subscription library keeps moving every month.

The issue is how a crowded removal month feels for subscribers who already have large backlogs. When too many games leave close together, players stop feeling excited about choice and start feeling pressured to manage a deadline.

That pressure is part of the deal with any rotating service, but Xbox still needs the balance to feel fair. The July 31 removals give players a better choice now: finish what they can, buy what they want to keep, or let the games go before the library changes again.
