01Overview
Resident Evil 2 is a survival horror game set in Raccoon City during a viral outbreak that has transformed much of the population into zombies and other creatures. Players follow rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield, who arrive in the city for different reasons and become trapped in the disaster. Each character has a separate campaign built around exploration, combat, puzzle solving and limited resources. Much of the game takes place inside the Raccoon Police Department before moving into underground facilities and Umbrella-related locations, with fixed camera angles and pre-rendered backgrounds shaping how players navigate each area. Capcom Games Leon and Claire have different weapons, supporting characters and story events, and completing one character’s scenario unlocks a second scenario for the other. Choices and actions in the first playthrough can affect parts of the following scenario, creating linked versions of the same outbreak. Players manage ammunition, healing items, keys and inventory space while solving environmental puzzles and avoiding or fighting enemies. The game also includes unlockable challenge content such as The 4th Survivor and The Tofu Survivor, which use familiar areas with different objectives and restrictions.
