01Overview
1666: Amsterdam is a third-person, story-led action-adventure set in a supernatural version of Amsterdam in 1666. Players control Noa Brooklyn, the Collector, a witch raised by the Zaindaris to reclaim power from ancient entities known as the Originals. These beings hide among ordinary citizens behind human faces, requiring Noa to investigate the city during the day, gather clues, identify suspects, and mark her targets. When the Esbat arrives at night, the Originals reveal their true forms and must be confronted directly using witchcraft and spellcasting. Each target can be approached in different ways, with strategy, timing, and player choices affecting how confrontations unfold. Noa can explore a handcrafted recreation of Amsterdam while examining its streets, buildings, and gablestones for information connected to the Originals. Players can also switch to Aaron, a character summoned from 1999 who experiences the world through the body of a cat and provides a different approach to exploration. The game combines investigation, supernatural combat, exploration, and story progression as Noa collects what the Originals owe.
