The Elder Scrolls VI is an upcoming single-player action RPG from Bethesda Game Studios and the sixth main entry in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Bethesda has described the project as its next major fantasy RPG and is developing it using Creation Engine 3, a new version of its technology platform built after Starfield. Director Todd Howard has said the aim is to create the “ultimate fantasy-world simulator,” continuing the studio’s focus on large interactive worlds where players can shape their own character and adventure. The game was first announced with a short teaser in 2018 and entered active production after development on Starfield reached completion. As of 2026, The Elder Scrolls VI is Bethesda Game Studios’ primary development focus, with the majority of the team working on the project and internal builds being played regularly. Bethesda has not yet revealed the game’s setting, storyline, character systems, combat mechanics, or specific open-world features.
