01Overview
Call of Duty: Black Ops II is a first-person shooter that follows a conflict spanning two generations. Parts of the campaign take place during the 1980s with Alex Mason and Frank Woods, while the main 2025 storyline follows David Mason as he pursues Raul Menendez, a terrorist leader who gains control of advanced military technology. Missions combine traditional firefights with stealth, vehicles, drones, and near-future weapons. The campaign also introduces branching decisions and optional Strike Force missions, allowing certain objectives and player choices to affect later events and the ending. Multiplayer introduces the Pick 10 system, letting players distribute ten allocation points between weapons, attachments, equipment, perks, and Wildcards when creating a class. Scorestreaks reward points earned through kills and objective play, while familiar competitive modes return alongside League Play. Zombies expands into several formats, including the larger TranZit experience, traditional Survival, and Grief, where two teams compete while facing the same undead threat. Players earn points by fighting zombies, purchase weapons and perks, open new areas, and work to survive increasingly difficult rounds.
