Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is a first-person shooter and the follow-up to Modern Warfare III, continuing the rebooted Modern Warfare storyline. The campaign begins with North Korea launching a full-scale invasion of South Korea and follows two perspectives. Private Park is a young South Korean soldier experiencing live combat for the first time, while Captain Price operates outside official channels on a personal mission that becomes connected to the wider conflict. Missions span locations including Korea, New York, Paris, and Mumbai, combining infantry battles, covert operations, vehicle combat, and large-scale military set pieces. Multiplayer launches with 12 new 6v6 maps alongside dedicated Gunfight arenas and Big War maps built around large-scale infantry and vehicle combat. Kill Block uses modular sections to reconfigure routes, cover, and sightlines between rounds, creating different layouts during matches. DMZ returns as an extraction mode set in the Hajin Exclusion Zone, where solo players or squads complete missions, gather equipment, encounter enemy forces and rival operators, and decide when to extract.
