LCS Hits Highest Peak Viewership in Four Years as Summer Audience Rebounds

October 8, 2026·3 min read

LCS Summer 2026 reached 279,217 peak concurrent viewers during Team Liquid's Grand Final against LYON, marking the league's highest viewership peak since Summer 2022.

The LCS has recorded its highest peak viewership in four years, with the 2026 Summer Grand Final between Team Liquid and LYON attracting 279,217 concurrent viewers.

According to Esports Charts, the October 4 final delivered the North American League of Legends competition's strongest peak audience since Summer 2022. The milestone follows a difficult start to 2026, when both Lock-In and Spring failed to reach 200,000 peak viewers.

Team Liquid defeated LYON 3-1 at the Gas South Arena near Atlanta, claiming its sixth LCS championship and first since Spring 2024.

Summer viewership jumps 52% compared with Spring

The improvement is especially notable given how poorly the LCS performed earlier this year. Spring 2026 peaked at 183,152 viewers, the lowest figure recorded for an LCS tournament. Lock-In performed only slightly better, reaching 184,969.

Summer's 279,217 peak represents a 52.4% increase over Spring, ending the league's run of two consecutive events below 200,000 viewers. The tournament also averaged 82,140 concurrent viewers and generated approximately 7.93 million hours watched across its broadcasts.

Those figures provide a broader picture of Summer's audience beyond the championship match. However, the record itself concerns peak concurrent viewership, not the total number of unique people who watched the competition.

Caedrel and Spanish-language broadcasts contributed to the growth

The stronger audience was accompanied by increased coverage from community broadcasters. Marc "Caedrel" Lamont led all channels in both peak viewership and hours watched. According to Esports Charts, his LCS broadcast time increased sixfold compared with Spring, making him one of the most prominent contributors to the Summer audience.

The number of channels covering the competition also increased from 100 in Spring to 126 in Summer. English-language broadcasts recorded a 44.1% increase in peak viewership, while Spanish-language coverage grew by 71.6%. Twitch and YouTube remained the largest streaming platforms, with additional growth recorded on Kick, TikTok, SOOP Korea, and CHZZK.

The figures show that Summer attracted stronger audiences across multiple languages and platforms rather than relying solely on the official English broadcast.

LCS still trails its 2022 viewership peak

Despite the improvement, the LCS has not returned to the audience levels it recorded four years ago. Summer 2022 peaked at 370,178 viewers during the Grand Final between Cloud9 and 100 Thieves. That remains considerably higher than the 279,217 recorded this year.

However, Summer 2026 surpassed several more recent LCS tournaments. Summer 2024 reached 260,753 peak viewers, while Spring 2023 recorded 271,376.

The comparison with 2025 is less direct because the LCS temporarily became part of the League of Legends Championship of The Americas (LTA), which used a different competitive structure. The latest numbers establish a stronger peak audience for the returning LCS format. They also show that the league still has ground to recover before matching its earlier highs.
