01Overview
Grand Theft Auto V is a vast open-world action-adventure game set in Los Santos, a sprawling sun-soaked metropolis and the surrounding countryside of Blaine County. The game blends storytelling and gameplay as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of its three lead characters: Michael, Franklin, and Trevor. Their individual stories become intertwined as they are drawn into the criminal underworld, government operations, and a series of increasingly elaborate heists. Players can switch between the three protagonists during missions and while freely exploring, with each character also having a unique special ability suited to driving or combat. Outside story missions, players can explore Southern San Andreas using cars, motorcycles, boats, aircraft, bicycles, and other vehicles. Activities include purchasing properties and vehicles, modifying cars, completing races and side missions, playing sports, hunting, and encountering strangers throughout the world. Combat combines firearms, melee attacks, cover, and vehicle-based action, while escalating wanted levels determine the police response to criminal activity. Later versions also allow players to switch between third-person and first-person perspectives while exploring, driving, and fighting.
