Deep Dish Dungeon brings co-op cooking and survival to Steam and Xbox
October 19, 2026·Updated October 19, 2026·3 min read
Deep Dish Dungeon launches on Steam and Xbox with three-player co-op, dungeon exploration, cooking, survival mechanics and a first post-launch patch.
Deep Dish Dungeon has launched on Steam and Xbox with a mix of dungeon crawling, survival, crafting and cooking, allowing up to three players to explore its interconnected depths together.
Developer Behold Studios and publisher Raw Fury released the game on October 13 for Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming. It also launched through Xbox Game Pass and supports Xbox Play Anywhere, while the Steam version is verified for Steam Deck.
Cooking is part of the progression

Players descend into a handcrafted dungeon filled with enemies, puzzles, resources and hidden routes, either alone or with up to two other players. Expeditions regularly lead back to a campsite, where collected materials can be turned into equipment and meals before the group ventures underground again.
Cooking directly affects progression because recipes provide different stat effects. Exploration also includes Metroidvania-style elements, with newly discovered tools and equipment opening access to previously unreachable areas.
The cooperative design encourages players to share information and resources rather than compete. Groups are expected to investigate clues, manage supplies and learn enemy behavior instead of simply rushing from one fight to another.
Behold Studios wants exploration to feel demanding
Some of the game's restrictive mechanics have already prompted player feedback. Creative director Saulo Camarotti addressed those concerns on October 16, explaining that the team intentionally designed exploration to be slower and occasionally uncomfortable rather than constantly directing players toward their next objective.
That philosophy also applies to the limited inventory. Players must decide which items are worth carrying, when to return to camp and which resources might become valuable later.
Behold Studios said those restrictions are intended to encourage planning and communication, although the developer also acknowledged that unnecessary frustration should be addressed when it harms the experience.
The first post-launch patch is already live

Behold Studios released patch 1.0.47.0 on October 15 following early bug reports. The update fixes several inventory problems, including disappearing items, duplicated backpack contents and issues involving backpacks or death packs falling into water.
The patch also improves controller prompts, fixes lobby password removal and changes Steam Deck behavior so the game starts in native fullscreen. Controller detection through the Xbox app on PC has also been improved.
Steam reviews are currently Mostly Positive
Deep Dish Dungeon currently holds a Mostly Positive Steam rating, with around 79% of recorded user reviews recommending the game. Its standard Steam price is $14.99, with a 15% launch discount reducing it to $12.74 until October 27.
The game continues Behold Studios' work after Knights of Pen & Paper and Chroma Squad, but takes a different direction by combining cooperative exploration, survival decisions and cooking as core parts of dungeon progression.
