Elder Scrolls Online makes Greymoor and Wolfhunter free as Echoes of Skyrim launches

October 22, 2026·3 min read

ESO's Echoes of Skyrim season makes Greymoor and Wolfhunter free, adding access to Western Skyrim, Antiquities and new solo dungeon versions.

The Elder Scrolls Online has officially launched Season Two: Echoes of Skyrim, bringing players back toward the home of the Nords while making a substantial chunk of previously paid Skyrim content available to everyone.

The season went live on October 21 and runs until January 27, 2027. Its arrival follows Bethesda and ZeniMax Online Studios moving the Greymoor Chapter and Wolfhunter DLC into the base game, opening Western Skyrim, the Antiquities system and several dungeons to all ESO players without an additional purchase.

Greymoor is now part of the base game

Greymoor originally launched in 2020 as a paid Chapter centered on Western Skyrim and the underground regions of Blackreach. Its storyline sends players to investigate supernatural threats beneath the region while revisiting locations connected to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Making it base-game content also unlocks the Antiquities system for everyone. Antiquities lets players track down leads, scry for the locations of buried objects and excavate treasures ranging from furnishings to equipment and other collectibles.

The change also includes the 12-player Kyne's Aegis Trial. Players who previously only owned the standard version of The Elder Scrolls Online can now access that content without purchasing Greymoor separately or relying on an ESO Plus subscription.

Wolfhunter's two dungeons are free as well

The Wolfhunter DLC has received the same treatment, making Moon Hunter Keep and March of Sacrifices available to every player. Both four-player dungeons revolve around Hircine and his followers, giving the Skyrim-themed season two established activities to build on.

Season Two goes further by introducing new solo versions of both dungeons. ZeniMax designed these alternatives specifically for individual players rather than expecting them to force their way through encounters originally balanced around a four-person group.

Difficulty can be increased through optional modifiers called Meted Misfortunes. Players taking on harder versions receive improved rewards, allowing the solo dungeons to serve both people primarily interested in experiencing their stories and those looking for a more demanding challenge.

Solo dungeons come with their own rewards

Completing the new versions of Moon Hunter Keep and March of Sacrifices provides Undaunted Crests, a currency that increases with difficulty. Those Crests can be exchanged through the Undaunted system for additional rewards.

The solo activities also introduce two-piece monster sets, style pages, furnishings and other equipment that was not part of the original group versions. Legendary companion equipment and Nowhere Keys are among the additional items available from the new dungeon reward pools.

The changes mean returning players who already completed Wolfhunter still have reasons to revisit its locations. Rather than simply removing the DLC paywall, ZeniMax has reworked two of its central activities around a different style of play.

Echoes of Skyrim runs through January

Season Two also introduces a new Tamriel Tome containing free and premium reward tracks. The free version includes currencies, Crown Crates and collectibles, while paid versions add further cosmetic rewards and additional Tome Points.

The season will continue through January 27 with Skyrim-focused activities, Golden Pursuit campaigns and other events. The returning Witches Festival is already running alongside the season through November 4, offering its own rewards and activities across Tamriel.

Moving Greymoor and Wolfhunter into the base game gives Echoes of Skyrim considerably more content than its new solo dungeons alone. Players who skipped the older DLC now have access to Western Skyrim, Blackreach, Antiquities, Kyne's Aegis and both original Wolfhunter dungeons before even touching the season's newly reworked versions.
