Frostpunk Finally Comes to Nintendo Switch on October 19
Frostpunk launches on Nintendo Switch on October 19 with a free demo, Complete Edition, and compatibility with Switch 2 through backward compatibility.
Frostpunk is finally coming to Nintendo Switch on October 19, more than eight years after 11 bit studios first released the survival city-builder on PC. A free demo is already available through the Nintendo eShop, giving Switch players a chance to try the game before launch.
The Nintendo release will be available as the standard game or Frostpunk: Complete Edition. It is a native Nintendo Switch release rather than a dedicated Switch 2 version, although Nintendo confirms that it is compatible with Switch 2 and behaves consistently with the original Switch version.
Frostpunk's Complete Edition includes all three expansions

Players who want the full package can choose Frostpunk: Complete Edition, which combines the base game with its three paid expansions: The Last Autumn, On The Edge, and The Rifts.
The Last Autumn serves as a prequel set before the world completely freezes. Instead of maintaining an established generator city, players oversee the construction of one of the generators that humanity will later depend on, with different laws, technologies, buildings, and environmental pressures.
On The Edge moves forward to the period after the Great Storm and follows an expedition sent away from New London. The Rifts expands Endless Mode with a new map where players must construct bridges to reach areas separated by large fractures in the landscape.
Nintendo also lists a separate Frostpunk: All Expansions Pack, so owners of the standard version are not limited to buying the Complete Edition to access the DLC.
The Switch port keeps Frostpunk's city-building and survival decisions intact

Frostpunk combines city management with decisions about how a society should operate under extreme conditions. Players need to keep the city's generator running while managing resources, constructing buildings, sending expeditions outside the settlement, and passing laws that can fundamentally change life for the survivors.
The Switch version supports handheld, tabletop, and TV play and remains a single-player game. Nintendo lists its download size at approximately 3.6 GB in regions where file-size information is currently available. Save Data Cloud is also supported for Nintendo Switch Online members.
The free demo is available ahead of launch, which gives players a practical way to see how the management-heavy interface and controls have been adapted for portable play before purchasing the full game.
Switch 2 plays the Switch version rather than getting its own upgrade
Nintendo lists Frostpunk as compatible with Switch 2, but there is no separate Switch 2 edition or announced upgrade. The platform holder describes the game's behavior on Switch 2 as consistent with the Nintendo Switch version.
That means no Switch 2-specific resolution, frame-rate, control, or visual improvements have been announced. Players using Nintendo's newer hardware will instead run the existing Switch release through backward compatibility.
Frostpunk launches for Nintendo Switch on October 19, with the standard game, Complete Edition, expansion pack, and free demo all listed through Nintendo's storefront.
