GTA 5 Leaving PS Plus Extra on November 17, Two Days Before GTA 6 Launch

October 14, 2026·3 min read

GTA 5 leaves PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium on November 17, just two days before GTA 6 launches. Subscribers will lose Game Catalog access unless they own the game.

Grand Theft Auto V will leave the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Game Catalog on November 17, 2026, just two days before the scheduled launch of Grand Theft Auto VI. The departure is the first confirmed removal from November's subscription lineup.

PS5 owners have begun receiving system notifications confirming the November 17 removal. The message encourages subscribers to revisit GTA 5 before GTA 6 arrives on November 19.

The PS5 notification informs subscribers that GTA 5 will leave the Game Catalog on November 17. It also highlights the upcoming sequel, offering players the option to launch the current game or pre-order GTA 6.

Rockstar Games has scheduled Grand Theft Auto VI for November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The removal of its predecessor comes just before the franchise's next major release.

GTA 5 most recently joined PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium on November 18, 2025. Rockstar's open-world game has appeared in the catalog several times, with previous additions followed by removals after limited periods.

Although the game has returned to the service before, Sony has not announced whether it will be added again after November.

PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers who access GTA 5 exclusively through the Game Catalog will no longer be able to play it once the removal takes effect.

Unlike monthly PlayStation Plus Essential games, Game Catalog titles do not remain playable indefinitely after being added to a subscriber's library. Access ends when a title leaves the catalog, even if it is still installed on the console.

Players who own GTA 5 separately through a digital purchase or physical copy will not be affected. Subscribers can also purchase a compatible edition to continue playing after its removal.

Existing save data is not automatically deleted when a game leaves PlayStation Plus. Players who purchase the same compatible version can generally continue their progress.

More November PS Plus removals have yet to be announced

GTA 5 is currently the only confirmed Game Catalog departure for November 2026. Sony has not yet revealed the complete list of games leaving PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium next month.

The next catalog update is scheduled for October 20. Sony typically updates the Last Chance to Play section around its monthly refresh, which may reveal additional November departures.

For subscribers planning to finish GTA 5's campaign or revisit Los Santos before the sequel launches, November 17 is the confirmed cutoff for access through the Game Catalog.
