Konami Plans More Silent Hill Games With Second and Third Waves Under Consideration

October 12, 2026·3 min read

Konami is considering second and third waves of Silent Hill games following the releases of Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill: Townfall. Series producer Motoi Okamoto says the company is evaluating additional projects, while Bloober Team's remake of the original Silent Hill remains the only specifically announced upcoming game.

Konami is looking beyond its recent Silent Hill releases, with series producer Motoi Okamoto confirming that the company is considering second and third waves of games.

Speaking in an interview published in Famitsu Issue 1965, Okamoto described the releases of Silent Hill 2 remake, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill: Townfall as the first wave of the franchise's revival. With all three games now available, Konami is evaluating several more projects.

However, Okamoto has not identified the games being considered or announced release dates, platforms, or development studios for the next waves.

Konami began its major Silent Hill revival in October 2022, when it announced several projects after years without a new mainline release. Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 remake arrived in October 2024, bringing the 2001 psychological horror game to modern hardware with updated combat and visuals.

The franchise then expanded with Silent Hill f in September 2025. Developed by NeoBards Entertainment, it introduced a new story set in 1960s Japan.

Screen Burn Interactive followed with Silent Hill: Townfall on September 24, 2026. The game takes the series to a remote Scottish island and uses a first-person perspective. Reflecting on these releases, Okamoto expressed relief that all three projects had reached players and received positive responses.

Why Okamoto pushed for several Silent Hill projects instead of one

The producer also explained why Konami chose to announce several games together rather than testing interest with a single remake.

Okamoto recalled the difficulties of securing internal support for the revival. The cancellation of Hideo Kojima's Silent Hills in 2015 had also left uncertainty about whether the franchise would receive another substantial release.

He believed launching only the Silent Hill 2 remake could leave fans questioning whether Konami intended to continue supporting the series. Instead, Okamoto pushed for multiple projects that could demonstrate a longer-term commitment.

The strategy brought together different studios to develop games with distinct settings and gameplay styles. It also allowed Konami to introduce new stories alongside a remake of one of the franchise's best-known entries.

Bloober Team's original Silent Hill remake is already confirmed

Although the second and third waves remain largely unannounced, Konami has confirmed one additional project. Bloober Team is developing a remake of the original Silent Hill, which was released for PlayStation in 1999. The project was announced during Konami's June 2025 Press Start presentation, following the studio's work on Silent Hill 2.

Konami has not revealed a release date, platforms, or gameplay details for the remake. It has also not clarified how the project fits into the newly discussed waves. Other potential games remain undisclosed. There is no confirmation that NeoBards Entertainment or Screen Burn Interactive will return to develop further entries.

Okamoto has previously discussed the ambition of releasing approximately one Silent Hill game each year. However, that remains a development goal rather than a confirmed schedule.

The original Silent Hill remake is therefore the only specifically announced upcoming game, while Konami continues considering additional projects for the franchise.
