Silent Hill: Townfall Dev Announces Balance Changes for Frustrating The Weight Sections

October 1, 2026·2 min read

Screen Burn Interactive is preparing balance changes for Silent Hill: Townfall's punishing encounters with The Weight. The adjustments are separate from the latest PC patch.

Silent Hill: Townfall developer Screen Burn Interactive says it is preparing a gameplay balance update after hearing complaints about the game's stealth encounters with The Weight.

The studio acknowledged the issue on September 30, saying it had "heard" players struggling with the enemy and that balancing changes are coming "ASAP." Screen Burn has not yet detailed what will be adjusted or given the update a release date.

The Weight appears during two major sections of Silent Hill: Townfall, where players are required to evade the enemy rather than deal with it like a standard combat encounter.

Getting caught results in an instant death, making the sections particularly punishing when a stealth attempt fails. Screen Burn's response confirms that the developer is now reconsidering the balance of those encounters following feedback after launch.

Screen Burn has not detailed what its balancing changes will affect, so the extent of the rework remains unknown.

Screen Burn announced the upcoming balancing work alongside a separate update that is already available on PC. Patch 1.3.1 launched on September 30 through Steam and the Epic Games Store. According to Konami's official patch notes, it reduces gameplay stuttering caused by shader precompilation issues.

Screen Burn also said more improvements are coming soon, but The Weight balancing changes are separate from the current PC patch.

The studio has not announced a release date or specified which platforms will receive the gameplay balancing update.

The response comes less than a week after launch

Silent Hill: Townfall released on September 24 for PS5, Steam and the Epic Games Store, giving Screen Burn only a few days of wider player feedback before it announced plans to revisit the stealth sections.

The game mixes combat, exploration and puzzles with encounters where avoiding enemies is the intended approach. The Weight stands apart from many of the regular threats because its appearances place much greater emphasis on staying hidden and escaping without being caught.
