Lords of the Fallen II Release Date Delayed
June 25, 2026·3 min read
Lords of the Fallen II will not make its old 2026 window. CI Games has moved the sequel to Q1 2027, giving Hexworks more time to work on the action RPG before it launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
The delay is not a surprise in the way a troubled reveal might be. It reads more like a careful move for a sequel that cannot afford to repeat the rough start of the 2023 game. Lords of the Fallen had good ideas, but performance issues, balance complaints, and co-op problems shaped the early conversation before patches helped steady it.
Lords of the Fallen II now targets early 2027
The new release window puts Lords of the Fallen II somewhere between January and March 2027. CI Games has not announced an exact date yet, so players only have the quarter to work with for now.
Hexworks is using the extra time to refine the sequel after recent feedback and internal testing. That wording can sound routine, but it is important here because the first game had to fight too many fires after launch. A Soulslike lives or dies on feel. If dodges, enemy placement, hitboxes, co-op, and performance are off, players notice fast.
This delay gives the team a better chance to bring those pieces together before the review cycle begins. It also gives the studio more space to show the game again without rushing from reveal excitement straight into launch pressure.

The first game left useful lessons
The 2023 Lords of the Fallen stood out because of Umbral, its second realm that changed exploration, combat, and level navigation. That idea gave the game an identity beyond being another dark fantasy Soulslike, even when the launch version struggled to keep everything smooth.
The sequel now has to build from that foundation instead of only making the world bigger. Players will want sharper combat, better enemy variety, stronger co-op, and an Umbral realm that feels dangerous without becoming exhausting.
Those are not small fixes, but they are the right places to focus. The first game improved through updates because Hexworks listened after launch. Lords of the Fallen II needs to show those lessons from the start.
Early 2027 gives the sequel more room
Moving out of late 2026 also helps the game avoid a packed release period. A difficult action RPG needs time for players to learn builds, test bosses, share routes, and bring friends into co-op. That conversation is harder to build when bigger releases are taking over the calendar.
The new window gives Lords of the Fallen II a cleaner shot at attention. It also avoids making the sequel compete too closely with the loudest games of the holiday season, where even good mid-sized releases can get buried.
For a series still trying to grow, timing is important. A smoother launch in a quieter window is better than forcing the game into 2026 and spending the next few months fixing what players find first.
The next showing needs to prove the delay helped
The delay makes sense, but players will judge it by the next gameplay look. Hexworks needs to show steadier performance, better combat flow, and co-op that feels ready instead of patched together later.
Lords of the Fallen II already has a setting, a hook, and a player base that wants the sequel to land better than the last game. The extra time only helps if the next version looks cleaner, faster, and more confident when the studio shows it again.

Lords of the Fallen II
Lords of the Fallen 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the game released in 2023, is set to arrive in 2026. The team at Hexworks aims to create a sequel incorporating more commercial elements, particularly in visual design, to attract a broader audience of players.
