Phoenix Cyclops Joins Marvel Tokon as November 2 Patch Changes Assists and Online Play
Phoenix Cyclops arrives as paid DLC alongside a free patch that changes assists, online matches and ranked play.
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls added Phoenix Cyclops as its first post-launch DLC character on November 2, 2026. The release comes alongside a major free update for PS5 and PC that changes assist cooldowns, improves online stability, and adjusts ranked matchmaking.
Developer Arc System Works has also introduced combat fixes and improvements to character controls. The biggest changes focus on reducing the frequency of assists and character switches during matches.
Phoenix Cyclops brings the Phoenix Force into battle

Phoenix Cyclops combines Scott Summers' familiar Optic Blasts with fire-based attacks powered by the Phoenix Force. His fighting style supports both ranged combat and close-range pressure, with projectiles, rushing attacks, and throws.
Using Optic Blasts builds Solar Shards, and collecting four allows Cyclops to transform into Dark Phoenix. The transformation increases his power temporarily but also drains his health, making it a risky option during fights.
Phoenix Cyclops is included in the Year 1 Character & Stage Pass and can be purchased separately. His release also adds the "Fallen Phoenix" battle theme and new content for All-Star Arena. Classic and Legacy costumes for Cyclops and a Joe Fixit costume for Hulk are available as separate paid DLC.
Longer assist cooldowns change the pace of combat

The November 2 update increases cooldowns for assists and character switching, limiting how frequently players can call teammates into battle. Arc System Works said assists were being used more often than intended, sometimes making fights difficult to follow.
Players will now spend more time fighting with their active character before another assist becomes available. To compensate, the developer has increased Assemble Gauge recovery and adjusted defensive mechanics, including the Skill Gauge gained from successful Perfect Reflects.
The patch also improves input responsiveness and fixes several character-specific issues. Black Panther's Bast's Blessing Gauge calculation has been corrected, while Magik's teleport input priority has been adjusted. Arc System Works has not introduced a broad set of direct character balance changes.
Cross-play and ranked matchmaking receive improvements
Online stability has been improved on PS5 and PC to reduce unexpected interruptions during matches. A new indicator shows when either player's connection experiences slowdown, while additional fixes address spectator desynchronization and replay problems.
Cross-platform matchmaking now defaults to "All" after installing the update, allowing PS5 and PC players to match together. Players can still select "Same Platform Only" if they prefer. The PC version also adds a benchmark test, with an optional matchmaking filter for players whose systems meet its performance standard.
Ranked play has received changes aimed at improving matchmaking at higher levels. Promotion from Vibranium to Master now requires three wins in five matches instead of four, after the developer found that too few players were reaching Master rank.
Master-ranked matchmaking also restricts large rating differences between opponents. Arc System Works expects the changes to reduce mismatched games without significantly increasing waiting times.
