Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has received its first PC patch, with Arc System Works targeting several performance problems reported since launch. The August 10 update focuses on high CPU usage, frame drops, shader compilation, and graphics detection.
The 4v4 Marvel fighting game launched on August 6 for PC and PlayStation 5. PC players quickly reported stuttering, low frame rates, high CPU load, and unstable performance.
Arc System Works has changed several processes that were placing extra load on CPUs. Startup was using too much CPU power, while repeated audio processing during matches was also affecting performance.
Another problem caused the game to keep checking for available audio inputs. Those checks could lead to sudden frame drops, and the patch removes the issue.
The update fixes a bug that caused lower frame rates at certain resolutions. Hardware detection has also been improved so the game can choose graphics settings that better match each PC.
These changes address some of the main complaints since launch. Players had reported stuttering and unstable performance even on more powerful systems.
PC players will see a shader warm-up prompt after installing the patch. Arc System Works recommends completing it before playing to help reduce stuttering during matches.
The update also fixes Battle Settings resetting after a restart. An Online Lobby bug that could make buttons stop responding during mini games has also been addressed.
The patch does not remove the PlayStation Network account requirement on PC. Marvel Tōkon also remains unavailable on Linux because of its Easy Anti-Cheat setup.
Arc System Works has improved its crash-reporting tools as well. The change should give the developers more information when investigating remaining stability problems.
