FlexStrike delay changes plans for Marvel Tokon players
July 15, 2026·3 min read
Sony has delayed the PlayStation FlexStrike wireless fight stick, changing launch plans for some Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls fans who expected the controller to arrive alongside the game.
The fight stick was originally set to launch on August 6, 2026, the same day as Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Sony now says the hardware has been delayed because of unexpected production issues, and it has not announced a new release date.
FlexStrike will miss its planned launch date
FlexStrike was meant to be PlayStation’s first official wireless fight stick for PS5 and PC. The controller was announced as a premium fighting game accessory with both wireless and wired play options.
The delay means players planning to pick up the stick for Marvel Tokon’s launch will need another setup. That may not affect casual players using a DualSense, but it matters for fighting game fans who prefer arcade-style controls for movement, inputs and long sessions.

Marvel Tokon is still set for August
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is still scheduled to launch on August 6, 2026, for PS5 and PC. The game is being developed by Arc System Works with PlayStation Studios and Marvel Games.
The project is a 4v4 tag fighting game built around Marvel characters, fast team changes and assist-style pressure. It has been one of PlayStation’s biggest upcoming fighting game bets, especially because Arc System Works is known for Guilty Gear Strive, Dragon Ball FighterZ and Granblue Fantasy Versus
The delay affects the launch setup
The timing is awkward because FlexStrike was clearly built to pair well with Marvel Tokon. A new PlayStation fighting game launching beside a new PlayStation fight stick would have given competitive players and Marvel fans a cleaner launch package.
Now those plans are split. Marvel Tokon will arrive first, while the fight stick will come later once Sony resolves the production delay. Players who wanted to learn the game on FlexStrike from day one may need to start on another controller and switch later.
Fight sticks still matter for this audience
Modern fighting games are playable on many controllers, including pads, arcade sticks, leverless controllers and keyboards on PC. Still, official fight sticks remain important for players who want tournament-style hardware, lower-latency options and a layout built around fighting games.
FlexStrike was also notable because it was coming directly from PlayStation, not only from third-party accessory makers. That gave it extra attention from PS5 players who wanted a first-party option for Marvel Tokon and other fighters.
Sony has not canceled FlexStrike. The controller has been delayed, and the company plans to share a new launch date later.
For Marvel Tokon fans, the current plan is simple. The game is still due on August 6, 2026, but anyone who planned to buy it with Sony’s official fight stick will need to use another controller at launch or wait for FlexStrike’s new date.
