Insomniac is not building Marvel's Wolverine around Logan alone. The latest trailers and story details have revealed a wider mutant cast filled with former teammates, uneasy allies, and enemies tied to the parts of his past he can no longer remember. That gives the game a much broader Marvel setup than its first teaser suggested.
The confirmed lineup also shows that this is not a familiar X-Men story with Wolverine dropped into the middle. The team has not formed in this version of the world, so characters such as Jean Grey, Mystique, and Sabretooth are meeting Logan under different circumstances. Their old comic relationships still matter, but Insomniac has room to reshape them.

Liam McIntyre plays Wolverine as a man pulled back toward Team X three years after leaving it behind. Logan is searching for missing memories while trying to stop the kidnapping of mutants, which makes the mission personal before the larger threat fully takes shape. His past with the group also leaves him unsure who is helping and who is using him.
Jean Grey, played by Krizia Bajos, joins the fight as an emerging mutant leader rather than an established X-Man. She has been shown working beside Logan in combat, using telekinesis to control enemies while he closes the distance. Their partnership begins with a shared need to protect captured mutants, not years of team history.
Mystique and Sabretooth are both tied to Team X, but neither should be treated as a safe ally. Mystique has appeared fighting the Reavers, while Sabretooth's history with Logan makes every meeting feel unstable. Sunfire is also part of Team X in the official digital prequel comic, although Insomniac has not announced him for the game itself.

Bolivar Trask sits at the centre of the campaign against mutants, using kidnappings and advanced weapons to turn fear into organised violence. His forces include the cybernetic Reavers and Sentinel technology, giving Logan enemies that can survive more than a few quick claw strikes. Trask provides the public face of the threat rather than hiding behind a mystery.
Omega Red brings a more direct physical challenge, with his carbonadium coils allowing him to control space and keep Wolverine away. Deathstrike is another major enemy, and her connection to The Hand pulls Logan's past into a wider conflict. Both characters give the game villains who can match his aggression without feeling interchangeable.
Nathaniel Essex leads Team X and is presented as someone Logan once trusted. Comic readers know the name as the man associated with Mister Sinister, but Insomniac has not confirmed that identity or transformation for this story. Keeping Essex close to the team gives the plot a quieter danger alongside Trask's open campaign.
Sentinels, the Reavers, and The Hand are official parts of the game, but they are factions and enemy groups rather than named characters for the roster. Their presence still says plenty about the scale of the story, especially with Sentinel technology suggesting that Trask's plans will grow beyond small raids and hired soldiers.
Cyclops, Professor X, Storm, and the rest of the usual X-Men lineup have not been announced. The decision to place the story before the team forms gives Insomniac a reason to hold those names back, and it also stops the game from becoming crowded before Logan's story has a chance to develop.
The safest official list currently includes Wolverine, Jean Grey, Mystique, Sabretooth, Omega Red, Bolivar Trask, Deathstrike, and Nathaniel Essex. Sunfire belongs beside them only when discussing the prequel comic. Until Insomniac identifies anyone else directly, characters such as Ogun and the wider X-Men remain theories rather than confirmed appearances.
