Twitch Streamer Taken Offline After Showing Marvel's Wolverine 10 Days Early

A Twitch streamer broadcast Marvel's Wolverine around 10 days before release after getting access to what appeared to be a retail PS5 copy of Insomniac Games' upcoming game.

The streamer, using the name blackmisk1, went live with the game on September 4 and 5 before the Twitch channel was taken offline for copyright infringement. The broadcasts lasted long enough for viewers to see gameplay and parts of the story ahead of the September 15 launch.

The footage was not limited to a title screen or a short clip showing that an early copy existed. Viewers saw extended sections of Marvel's Wolverine, including combat, exploration, cutscenes, and story material that had not been part of Insomniac's official trailers.

The stream was eventually removed from Twitch, but footage from the broadcasts had already begun circulating elsewhere by that point. Clips were also shared through other platforms after the original stream disappeared. No story spoilers from the leaked footage are included here.

The copy shown during the broadcasts appeared to be a physical PS5 disc rather than one of the old development builds that previously circulated online.

Exactly how blackmisk1 obtained the game before release has not been confirmed, and there is no reliable evidence establishing where the disc came from. The timing itself is confirmed. PlayStation lists Marvel's Wolverine for September 15 on PS5, placing the broadcasts around 10 days before players are officially supposed to have access.

Marvel's Wolverine has already been affected by one much larger leak during development.

Insomniac was targeted by a criminal cyberattack in December 2023 that exposed stolen company data and early development material from the game. At the time, Insomniac stressed that Wolverine was still in early production and would continue changing as development progressed.

The current incident is different because it appears to involve a retail copy arriving in someone's hands shortly before launch. If the disc is the retail copy it appears to be, the footage is much closer to the version players will receive than the unfinished development material exposed in 2023.

With Marvel's Wolverine now only days from release, the early streams have also created a spoiler risk for players trying to go into Insomniac's story without seeing later scenes or campaign details beforehand.
