Mortal Shell 2 Rotten Autumn Update Adds 15 New Dungeons, Photo Mode and More
Mortal Shell 2's free Rotten Autumn update adds 15 dungeons, 10 Tarstones, Photo Mode, a new soundtrack and Halloween cosmetics.
Cold Symmetry has released a major free update for Mortal Shell 2, adding 15 new dungeons, 10 Tarstones, Photo Mode and an alternative soundtrack. Called Rotten Autumn, the update launched on October 20, 2026, and is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam.
The update arrives two months after the Soulslike action RPG's August release. Alongside expanding the game's exploration and customization options, it introduces Halloween-themed content, new graphics settings and additional fixes.
Fifteen new dungeons expand Mortal Shell 2's exploration

Rotten Autumn adds 15 dungeons to the game's interconnected world, giving players more areas to discover and additional challenges to overcome. The base game already places considerable emphasis on exploring dangerous locations, uncovering secrets and finding equipment that supports different playstyles.
The update also introduces 10 new Tarstones, which provide perks that can influence weapon builds. A sheep-specific Tarstone is among the additions, offering another unusual option for players to experiment with.
Cold Symmetry has also added a mysterious ghost belonging to a lost Shell. The apparition can be encountered while exploring and leaves cryptic notes, introducing another secret for players to investigate.
Photo Mode and a new soundtrack arrive with visual improvements

The update introduces Photo Mode, giving players a way to capture the game's dark fantasy environments, characters and encounters. This is accompanied by new lighting presets for Night Mode and an Overkill graphics setting.
Cold Symmetry has not detailed the technical requirements or performance impact of the new graphics option. Another notable addition is an alternative soundtrack by Sakis Tolis, the frontman of Greek black metal band Rotting Christ. The new music gives players another option for experiencing the game's atmosphere.
These features expand how players can experience Mortal Shell 2 beyond its core combat and exploration systems.
Rotten Autumn brings Halloween cosmetics and more customization
Rotten Autumn also introduces new Shell Shades, allowing players to change the appearances of the warriors they possess throughout the game.
The seasonal additions include a pumpkin helmet for the Harbinger and an Impervious Lute skin. Additional tracks have also been added for the lute, expanding the music players can perform using the in-game instrument.
Alongside the new content, Cold Symmetry has included further polish and bug fixes. The developer has not provided a detailed breakdown of every adjustment included in the seasonal update.
Mortal Shell 2 originally launched on August 20, 2026, as a standalone sequel to the 2020 action RPG. It expands on the original with a larger interconnected world, more Shells, additional weapons and unrestricted combat without traditional stamina limitations.
Rotten Autumn is available as a free update for existing owners. Cold Symmetry has also indicated that more content is coming, although it has not revealed what the next update will include or when it will arrive.
