The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall is an open-world fantasy RPG developed by Bethesda Softworks and set across the Iliac Bay region of Tamriel. Players are sent by Emperor Uriel Septim VII to investigate the death of King Lysandus and recover a missing letter connected to the royal families of the region. The game offers extensive character creation, allowing players to choose classes, skills, advantages and weaknesses before exploring a huge procedurally generated world filled with towns, dungeons and factions. Progression is highly open-ended. Players can follow the main quest, join guilds, accept contracts, buy property or simply explore. Choices made during the story affect political relationships and can lead to several different endings, giving Daggerfall considerably more freedom than many RPGs of its era.
