01Overview
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is an open-world fantasy RPG developed by Bethesda Game Studios and set in the province of Cyrodiil. The story begins with the assassination of Emperor Uriel Septim VII, who entrusts the player with the Amulet of Kings and a mission to find his hidden heir, Martin Septim. Players can freely explore cities, forests, ruins and dungeons while completing quests, joining factions and developing their character through skills, equipment and magic. Combat takes place in real time from either first- or third-person perspective. A major part of the main story revolves around Oblivion Gates, portals that connect Cyrodiil to the demonic realm of Mehrunes Dagon. Closing these gates becomes central to stopping the Daedric invasion and protecting Tamriel.
