Football Manager 27 Will Be Free to Play for Five Days Ahead of November 10 Launch
Football Manager 27 offers five days of free access on PC and Mac from October 29, with all modes available and saves carrying over to the full game.
SEGA and Sports Interactive have announced that Football Manager 27 will be free to play on PC and Mac for five days before its official release on November 10, 2026. The promotion begins on October 29 and gives players access to every game mode without purchasing the game.
The announcement follows the troubled reception of Football Manager 26, which faced criticism over its redesigned interface, missing features and navigation problems. Sports Interactive has since acknowledged those issues and outlined several improvements for the upcoming installment.
Football Manager 27's free preview runs from October 29 to November 3

The free Launch Preview begins at 6 PM GMT on October 29 and ends at the same time on November 3. Players can download the game through Steam, the Epic Games Store or the Microsoft Store without an additional sign-up or upfront purchase. The preview will also be available to eligible Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers.
Unlike a traditional demo, the Launch Preview includes every game mode. Players can begin a full management career, experiment with the new features and explore the game before deciding whether to buy it.
Sports Interactive has also confirmed that saves created during the free period will carry over to the full release. Players who purchase the game can continue their existing careers without restarting. However, the promotion provides temporary access rather than a free copy to keep permanently.
A 10% pre-purchase discount will become available alongside the preview on October 29. Players who purchase through a SEGA-approved digital retailer can continue playing after the free period ends on November 3, without having to wait for the November 10 launch.
Eligible Game Pass subscribers can also continue their saves through their subscriptions. The Launch Preview replaces the traditional Beta or Advanced Access period used for previous Football Manager releases. Sports Interactive says this year's version is intended to be closer to the finished game, although some club and player assets may still be missing while licensing approvals are completed.
Sports Interactive looks to rebuild confidence after Football Manager 26

The decision to offer unrestricted access comes after a difficult period for the franchise.
Sports Interactive cancelled Football Manager 25 before returning with Football Manager 26 in November 2025. That release marked a major technical transition for the series, introducing the Unity engine and a redesigned user interface.
However, many longtime players criticized the changes, particularly the new navigation system and the removal of familiar functionality. The game also received complaints about technical problems and its overall presentation.
Sports Interactive responded with several updates, restoring features and redesigning parts of the interface. Despite those improvements, studio director Miles Jacobson acknowledged in May 2026 that the game had fallen short of player expectations.
Jacobson admitted that some changes intended to improve the experience had instead made it worse for certain players. He also identified immersion, interface design and navigation as priorities for future releases.
The free preview gives returning players an opportunity to evaluate those changes directly before committing to another purchase. Sports Interactive has also described the promotion as part of its efforts to rebuild player trust, giving fans access to the game before asking them to make a purchase.
Sports Interactive has outlined several improvements for Football Manager 27, including a clearer interface designed to make information easier to find. The developer is introducing smarter navigation and a more intuitive full-screen layout. These changes aim to reduce unnecessary clicks while giving managers better access to important information.
Match management is also receiving attention through Tactical Tweaks, which provide additional options for making adjustments during games. A new Tactical Effectiveness system expands the training experience, helping managers understand how well their squads are prepared to carry out tactical instructions.
The match engine will feature improvements to player movement, animations and matchday presentation. Sports Interactive has also announced changes to the news system, cup draws and Transfer Deadline Day to make the wider football world feel more immersive.
Players will be able to try these improvements during the free Launch Preview before the full game arrives.
Football Manager 27 launches on November 10, 2026, for PC and Mac. FM27 Console will also release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox, while FM27 Mobile will arrive through Netflix and FM27 Touch through Apple Arcade.
The five-day free preview is limited to PC and Mac, with no equivalent free-access promotion announced for the console or mobile versions.
