01Overview
Halo 2 is a first-person shooter developed by Bungie and the sequel to Halo: Combat Evolved. The campaign continues Master Chief’s fight against the Covenant while also introducing the Arbiter, a Covenant warrior whose perspective reveals more about the conflict from the enemy side. Gameplay expands on the original with dual-wielding, vehicle hijacking and a wider selection of weapons, enemies and vehicles. The campaign alternates between Master Chief and the Arbiter, gradually connecting their separate storylines. Halo 2 also became a landmark console multiplayer game through its Xbox Live matchmaking system. Competitive modes include Slayer, Capture the Flag and other team-based variants, while the campaign supports cooperative play. Its multiplayer progression and matchmaking helped establish many features that later became standard in online console shooters.
