Nintendo Switch 2 owners will have another acclaimed narrative game to play this week. 1000xRESIST is getting a native Switch 2 edition on August 20, bringing Sunset Visitor's science-fiction adventure to Nintendo's newer hardware more than two years after its original PC and Switch launch.
The new edition is not simply the existing Switch version running through backward compatibility. Fellow Traveller says it has been updated specifically for Switch 2, with higher resolution and improved presentation. Existing Switch owners will receive a free upgrade to the new version.

Nintendo's listing confirms that 1000xRESIST - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will run at 4K resolution, or 2160p, while the console is docked. Handheld and tabletop play will instead use a Full HD 1080p presentation. All three modes are listed at 30 frames per second.
Fellow Traveller describes the release as a major visual improvement over the original Switch version and says the upgraded presentation brings it closer to the PC experience. That is particularly relevant for a game that relies heavily on cinematic framing, shifting perspectives, distinctive environments, and carefully staged conversations rather than traditional action.
The underlying game remains the same story-driven adventure. Players take control of Watcher, one of many clones living underground a thousand years after an alien arrival and accompanying disease nearly wiped out humanity. Watcher begins the game devoted to a figure known as the ALLMOTHER before discoveries about her society and its past begin changing what she believes.

Anyone who already owns the Nintendo Switch version will be able to move to the Switch 2 edition through a free upgrade. Fellow Traveller confirmed the upgrade alongside the August 20 release date, giving existing players access to the improved resolution and presentation without another full purchase.
New players in the Americas and Europe will also have a launch-week discount available. The publisher says 1000xRESIST will be discounted by 40% in those regions during its Switch 2 launch week, although the exact final price depends on the regional Nintendo eShop.
Sunset Visitor originally released 1000xRESIST for Nintendo Switch and PC on May 9, 2024. The Vancouver-based studio built the game around a mix of third-person exploration, visual-novel storytelling, first-person sequences, and memories that players can revisit at different points in time.
The game later reached PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the Xbox release also joining Game Pass. Its reputation has grown alongside those additional versions. Fellow Traveller and Nintendo now describe it as a Peabody Award-winning game, while its Steam release currently carries an Overwhelmingly Positive rating from thousands of English-language user reviews.
That history makes the Switch 2 release different from a completely new platform debut. Nintendo players have been able to play 1000xRESIST since its original launch, but the August 20 edition adds a native version with 4K docked output, 1080p handheld and tabletop play, and a free upgrade for existing Switch owners.
