Diablo 4 Switch 2 Runs at 40 FPS in Performance Mode
Blizzard has detailed how Diablo 4 performs on Nintendo Switch 2, with a Performance Mode targeting 40 FPS at 1080p and a Quality Mode that raises the docked resolution to 1440p at 30 FPS.
The 40 FPS option works in both handheld and docked play, although players using the console on a TV need a compatible 120Hz display to access it. The Switch 2 version also includes touchscreen support for several interface functions, USB mouse and keyboard controls, and full cross-progression with other platforms.
Performance Mode targets 40 FPS at 1080p

Players prioritizing frame rate can run Diablo 4 at a targeted 40 FPS and 1080p in Performance Mode.
Those targets remain the same whether the Switch 2 is being used as a handheld or connected to a display. Docked players will need a television or monitor capable of at least 120Hz for the 40 FPS mode, making the display requirement an important part of Blizzard's performance specification.
Quality Mode keeps the frame rate at 30 FPS instead. In handheld play it targets 1080p, while docking the console increases the resolution target to 1440p. Blizzard is therefore offering a straightforward choice between smoother performance and additional docked resolution. Neither graphics mode targets 60 FPS.
Switch 2 adds touchscreen and USB mouse controls

The port also takes advantage of several control options that distinguish it from the existing console versions.
Players can use the Switch 2 touchscreen to navigate most menus, manage inventory, and interact with the map while playing handheld. Those functions are particularly suited to Diablo 4, where equipment management and navigating interface-heavy systems make up a significant part of play between combat encounters.
Blizzard has also added support for compatible USB mouse and keyboard setups, allowing players to use a control scheme closer to the PC version while playing on Switch 2. Joy-Con 2 mouse controls are not supported, however. The mouse option requires a separate compatible USB device rather than using Nintendo's controller-based mouse functionality.

Diablo 4 progress carries across platforms
Existing Diablo 4 players do not need to create a separate character roster when moving to Switch 2.
The game supports cross-progression through Battle.net, allowing characters, progression, cosmetics, and supported account purchases to carry between platforms linked to the same account. Cross-play is also available, letting Switch 2 players join users on other supported systems. An active Nintendo Switch Online membership is required for cross-play and other online multiplayer interactions.
That makes the Switch 2 release an extension of an existing Diablo 4 account rather than a separate ecosystem, which is particularly useful for players interested in using the handheld version away from their primary PC or console setup.
Diablo 4: Age of Hatred Collection launched for Nintendo Switch 2 on September 15, bringing the base game together with Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred.
