Diablo IV Patch Increases Prime Evil Splinter Stack Limit From 1 to 99
October 29, 2026·3 min read
Diablo IV Patch 3.2.4 raises Prime Evil Splinter stacks from 1 to 99, improving inventory management during Season of Hell's Legacy.
Blizzard has released Diablo IV Patch 3.2.4, making one of Season of Hell’s Legacy’s key items considerably easier to manage. Prime Evil Splinters can now stack to 99 instead of being limited to a single item per stack.
The update, Build #74043, went live across all platforms on October 28. It is a small patch overall, with Blizzard listing only the Splinter adjustment alongside unspecified stability, visual and user-interface improvements.
Prime Evil Splinters can finally be stockpiled

Before Patch 3.2.4, Prime Evil Splinters had a stack limit of one, making inventory management unnecessarily restrictive for players collecting them throughout the season. Raising that limit to 99 allows significantly more Splinters to occupy the same inventory space.
The change does not alter their power, drop rates or the underlying seasonal mechanics. Players can still only bear the power of one Prime Evil at a time, with each Splinter associated with a different part of Season of Hell’s Legacy.
Diablo’s Splinter of Terror affects activities including Helltides and Infernal Hordes, while Baal’s Splinter of Destruction modifies The Undercity and Lair Bosses. Mephisto’s Splinter of Hatred instead applies to The Pit and Nightmare Dungeons, with all three also interacting with the Tree of Whispers.
Splinters are central to Season of Hell’s Legacy

Season of Hell’s Legacy forms part of Blizzard’s celebration of Diablo’s 30th anniversary. Its seasonal questline brings back Deckard Cain and sends players through recreated encounters involving Diablo, Baal and Mephisto.
Defeating those Prime Evil echoes allows players to obtain their respective Splinters and temporarily assume part of their power. Each provides an Iconic Power during combat while also making the character more vulnerable to the Prime Evil associated with that Splinter.
Players can build reputation while carrying their chosen Splinter and unlock additional modifiers through War Plans. Switching to another Prime Evil path requires acquiring the appropriate Splinter from the larger Waking Nightmare activities.
The increased stack limit therefore does not make those powers stronger, but it removes a cumbersome inventory restriction from a system players repeatedly interact with during seasonal progression.
Prime Evil Splinters were also addressed in Patch 3.2.3 on October 14. That update fixed an issue where players could use a Splinter before completing the seasonal questline, potentially preventing the affected character from finishing the quest and unlocking Prime Evil Powers.
Blizzard warned that the fix did not automatically repair characters already affected by the problem. Its workaround involves completing the seasonal questline with another character in the same Normal, Hardcore or Solo Self-Found partition to unlock the powers across eligible characters.
Patch 3.2.4 does not contain another large balance pass or new seasonal content. Instead, its headline change is a straightforward quality-of-life improvement that lets players hold up to 99 Prime Evil Splinters in a stack without changing how Season of Hell’s Legacy itself functions.
