Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered Gets Free Steam Demo Ahead of November Launch

October 22, 2026·3 min read

Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered gets a free Steam demo featuring three playable monsters, multiplayer battles and Destruction Mode ahead of its November 3 launch.

Atari has released a free Steam demo for Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered, bringing the classic monster fighting game back ahead of its November 3, 2026, launch. The demo became available on October 15 and will remain playable until October 27.

Developed by original creator Pipeworks Studios, the remaster updates the 2002 arena fighter with improved visuals, gameplay adjustments and online multiplayer. The demo gives players access to three monsters, local and online battles, and a mode focused entirely on destroying the environment.

The Steam demo features three playable kaiju: Godzilla, Gigan and King Ghidorah. Each brings a different fighting style, allowing players to experiment with melee attacks, energy-based abilities and special moves.

Players can compete in local multiplayer matches with up to four participants. The demo also supports online 1v1 quick matches, making it possible to fight opponents without gathering everyone around the same screen.

Another available activity is Destruction Mode, which shifts the focus from defeating other monsters to causing as much damage as possible.

Players must demolish buildings and other structures to earn points, turning the environment itself into the main objective. The mode highlights one of the original game's defining features: allowing giant monsters to tear apart their surroundings during combat.

The demo is available exclusively on Steam until October 27, giving PC players a limited opportunity to try the remaster before its full release.

Originally released in 2002, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee became known for its arena battles featuring monsters from the long-running film franchise. Rather than following the traditional one-on-one fighting game formula, it places giant creatures in large environments where buildings, landmarks and other structures can be destroyed during combat.

Players can punch, kick, grab and throw opponents while using the environment to gain an advantage. Monsters can also pick up objects and throw them at enemies, making destruction an important part of each fight.

The remaster preserves those mechanics while updating the presentation for modern hardware. Pipeworks has rebuilt the game using Unreal Engine 5, with enhanced environments, visual effects and improvements to the original combat experience.

Each kaiju retains a distinctive moveset, including ranged energy attacks and powerful Rage Mode abilities. The combination of direct combat and environmental destruction remains central to the remaster's design.

Full game features 12 kaiju, eight arenas and online multiplayer

The complete version of Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered will expand beyond the demo's limited selection with 12 playable monsters.

The roster includes the Showa-era version of Mechagodzilla, alongside other familiar creatures from the franchise. Players will also be able to battle across eight locations, including recreated cities, Monster Island and the Alien Mothership.

Each arena features day and night variations, providing different settings for the monster battles. The remaster introduces online multiplayer alongside the original game's local multiplayer experience. It also includes additional single-player campaigns for the playable monsters.

Pipeworks has updated the progression system as well. Instead of following the original unlock order, players can choose which monsters, locations and gallery items they want to unlock.

Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered launches on November 3, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam. The standard version is priced at $29.99 in the US, with physical editions also planned for select platforms.
