Nintendo Switch Online Adds Madden NFL 27 Game Trial Until September 15

Nintendo Switch Online members can play the full Nintendo Switch 2 version of Madden NFL 27 at no additional cost through September 15, with the Game Trial ending at 11:59 p.m. PT.

The offer is a temporary Game Trial rather than a free-to-keep promotion or demo. Members get access to the complete game during the trial, and any save data they create can carry over if they decide to buy Madden NFL 27 afterward.

Nintendo's Game Trial gives eligible subscribers access to the same Madden NFL 27 release sold on Switch 2, rather than restricting players to a small selection of teams or modes.

That means members can spend the trial in Franchise, Superstar, Ultimate Team, and the rest of the main game. Franchise includes this year's new Persona Engine, which gives NFL players different personalities that can affect negotiations, development, and their reactions over the course of a season.

Superstar also includes the G.O.A.T. Career Journey, allowing players to build a career from high school to the NFL Hall of Fame. Access is available to Nintendo Switch Online members on Switch 2. Once the Game Trial ends, the game will require a purchase to continue playing.

Progress made during the trial will not disappear if a player later buys Madden NFL 27. Nintendo confirms that save data carries over to the purchased version, allowing members to continue an existing Franchise, Superstar career, or other saved progress without starting again.

The carryover is particularly useful for modes designed around longer seasons and careers, since players can use the trial to begin a proper save rather than treating the week as a separate temporary playthrough.

Players who decide not to buy the game will lose access when the trial ends, but their save data can remain available if they return to the full version later.

Nintendo is also running a separate discount on the digital Deluxe Edition alongside the Game Trial.

The Deluxe Edition is 25% off through September 16 at 11:59 p.m. PT, giving players an extra day after the Game Trial ends to decide whether they want to continue.
