Meccha Chameleon Comes to Switch 2 After Selling 20 Million Copies

September 10, 2026·2 min read

Meccha Chameleon has made its console debut on Nintendo Switch 2 after becoming one of 2026's biggest multiplayer hits on PC.

Nintendo revealed the Switch 2 version during its September 9 Direct and released it later the same day. The move comes three months after Meccha Chameleon launched on Steam, where developer LEMORION says it has already sold more than 20 million copies.

The Switch 2 release is the first console version of Meccha Chameleon, which had previously only been available on PC. Nintendo lists support for online matches with up to 24 players. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is required for online play, and the game also requires a persistent internet connection.

No PlayStation or Xbox versions have been announced.

The move gives Meccha Chameleon another platform after a remarkably fast start on Steam. The PC version originally launched on Steam on June 9 before reaching Switch 2 on September 9.

Meccha Chameleon splits players between Hiders and Seekers, with Hiders trying to avoid detection until time runs out.

Instead of simply hiding behind objects, Hiders can paint their white characters to match walls, furniture, floors, and other parts of the environment. Position, pose, and how accurately players reproduce nearby colors and patterns all affect how convincing the disguise becomes.

The mechanic means a player does not necessarily need to find a traditional hiding spot. Someone who matches the surroundings well enough can remain in plain sight while Seekers search around them.

Seekers win by finding every member of the opposing team before the timer expires, keeping the rules simple even as players experiment with increasingly elaborate disguises.

The Switch 2 launch follows 20 million PC sales

LEMORION announced in August that Meccha Chameleon had sold more than 20 million copies on Steam, reaching the milestone roughly two months after launch.

The developer had already reported seven million sales during the game's first two weeks.

Meccha Chameleon is now available digitally through the Nintendo eShop on Switch 2. The game is also launching with a 20% discount through September 16, giving players a limited window to pick up the new console version at a reduced price.
