Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 Are Coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in October

Capcom is bringing three of its modern Resident Evil remakes to Nintendo Switch 2 on October 16.

Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition will all launch digitally on the same day, giving Switch 2 players access to the recent versions of the Raccoon City games and Leon Kennedy's return in Resident Evil 4.

Physical editions are also planned, although they will arrive several months later on January 29, 2027.

Capcom is bringing over the Deluxe Edition of Resident Evil 2 rather than only the base 2019 remake.

The package includes the main game alongside its existing downloadable extras, including additional costumes for Leon and Claire, Samurai Edge weapon variants, and the option to use music from the original Resident Evil 2.

Resident Evil 4 receives the more substantial Gold Edition. Alongside the 2023 remake, it includes Separate Ways, the additional story following Ada Wong during the events of Leon's campaign.

The package also contains The Mercenaries and the existing Extra DLC Pack, which adds weapons, costumes, accessories, and other optional content.

Resident Evil 3 is being released under its standard title rather than as a new expanded edition.

The three releases are scheduled to hit the Nintendo eShop together on October 16, rather than being spread across separate launch dates. Nintendo currently lists estimated download sizes of 14 GB for Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, 12.9 GB for Resident Evil 3, and 29 GB for Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition.

That puts Capcom's remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 on Switch 2 in one release wave. The games were previously released across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, but these will be new Nintendo Switch 2 releases.

For Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, the Switch 2 releases are also a notable change from Nintendo's previous hardware. Both games were only available on the original Switch through cloud-streaming versions that required a constant internet connection.

Players who want packaged copies will have to wait beyond the digital launch.

Capcom has confirmed physical versions of all three for January 29, 2027. The company currently lists the same three editions for that release: Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition.

Capcom has not yet specified whether those physical releases will contain the full games on cartridge or use Nintendo Switch 2 Game-Key Cards. The October 16 launch will therefore be digital-only, with the physical versions following a little over three months later.
