PS1-Inspired Horror FPS DERELIKT Confirms November 13 Release on Steam

October 23, 2026·3 min read

DERELIKT launches November 13 on Steam, with retro sci-fi horror, resource-focused shooting and a playable demo.

DERELIKT, an upcoming sci-fi survival horror FPS inspired by classic PlayStation-era games, will launch on November 13, 2026, for PC via Steam. Developer Visuwyg and publisher Hyperstrange confirmed the release date on October 20 alongside a new trailer showcasing the game's unsettling environments and survival-focused combat.

Drawing inspiration from System Shock 2, Alien Resurrection and Doom 3, the game combines retro visuals with first-person shooting, environmental puzzles and limited resources. A free Steam demo is already available, allowing players to explore part of its mysterious research station before launch.

DERELIKT takes place aboard Von Neumann Outpost, a remote research facility built into a derelict asteroid orbiting Saturn. The station is in serious trouble. Its systems are failing, corridors have gone dark and the remaining survivors offer conflicting explanations about what happened.

Players must investigate the facility while exploring laboratories, maintenance shafts and crew quarters. Progress involves searching for supplies, solving environmental puzzles and unlocking new routes into previously inaccessible areas.

Exploration also extends deeper into the asteroid, where the environment becomes increasingly dangerous and the mystery surrounding the station begins to unfold.

More than a dozen NPCs remain inside the facility, each with their own motivations and understanding of the events taking place. Some may provide useful information or assistance, while others could pose a threat.

Their conflicting accounts add uncertainty to the investigation, forcing players to consider who they can trust as they uncover the secrets of Von Neumann Outpost.

Limited ammunition makes every encounter dangerous

Unlike traditional retro shooters built around constant action, DERELIKT combines first-person combat with survival horror mechanics. Players have access to conventional firearms and alien weapons, but ammunition, health supplies and inventory space are limited. Managing those resources is essential, particularly when exploring areas filled with hostile creatures.

The game encourages players to think carefully about encounters rather than relying entirely on firepower. Searching for supplies and conserving ammunition can be just as important as defeating enemies. Its combat and exploration take inspiration from older sci-fi horror games, particularly the resource management of System Shock 2 and the unsettling atmosphere of Alien Resurrection.

The developer has also emphasized interconnected exploration. Acquiring new equipment can open previously inaccessible routes, giving players reasons to revisit earlier sections of the station.

DERELIKT recreates PS1 horror visuals with modern controls

One of DERELIKT's defining features is its recreation of late-1990s 3D horror aesthetics. The game uses warped geometry, hand-painted vertex colors and other visual techniques associated with the original PlayStation. It also features full-motion CGI cutscenes that reinforce its retro presentation.

These visual elements are combined with modern controls and quality-of-life improvements, allowing players to experience the atmosphere of older survival horror games without being restricted to their original control systems. Visuwyg previously released a public playtest in September 2026, giving players access to selected sections of the game.

A separate free demo followed on October 8. Available through Steam, it introduces players to the opening section of Von Neumann Outpost and offers an early look at the exploration, combat and environmental puzzles.

The full game is scheduled to launch for PC on November 13, 2026. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are also planned for a later date, although their release windows have not been announced.

Hyperstrange has not yet confirmed the game's launch price.
