SharpEmu Reaches Playable 60 FPS in Six PS5 Games
SharpEmu can now run six tested PS5 games at a playable 60 FPS following its September 25 update. The emulator remains experimental, with most tested titles still unable to reach gameplay.
SharpEmu has reached another technical milestone, with the experimental PS5 emulator running six tested games at a playable 60 FPS in its September 25 update.
The result comes from SharpEmu v0.0.4-release.2, released on September 25. At that point, 55 PS5 titles had been tested, 12 were able to reach gameplay and six were classified as playable, marking a meaningful step forward for a project that is still in the early stages of development.
Six games hit playable 60 FPS in the September 25 update

The six games are Dreaming Sarah, void tRrLM();++ //Void Terrarium++, New Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja, Tetris Forever, Hoa and Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered.
"Playable" is SharpEmu's highest compatibility status, but it does not necessarily mean every game has been tested from beginning to end. Individual reports can still note minor graphical, audio or other issues even when a title receives that rating.
The list is encouraging, but it also shows how early PS5 emulation remains. Most of the successful titles are smaller games, remasters or releases with relatively modest technical demands compared with the console's more demanding first-party and AAA software.
That makes the 60 FPS result an important compatibility milestone rather than evidence that PS5 emulation is already mature across the wider library.

SharpEmu remains an experimental open-source project built around accuracy and core infrastructure rather than chasing compatibility with individual high-profile games.
Recent development has included continued work on Vulkan support and shader translation, both of which are central to getting PS5 graphics workloads running correctly on PC hardware. The emulator can execute native CPU instructions from PS5 software, but GPU handling and broader system compatibility are still under active development.
SharpEmu supports Windows, Linux and macOS, although performance can vary significantly depending on the game, operating system, graphics hardware and driver support.
The project itself continues to describe PS5 compatibility as experimental, making the six playable games useful evidence of progress without changing the wider reality that much of the console's catalogue still cannot be played reliably.
Demon's Souls is making separate progress on KytyPS5
More demanding PS5 software is also beginning to move forward, although those results are coming from different emulator projects.
A recent video from PSXTech showed the Demon's Souls remake running at roughly 40 to 50 FPS through KytyPS5 on a PC equipped with an Intel Core i9-14900K and Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090. The result is a substantial improvement over earlier builds that struggled to run the game at usable frame rates.
It should not be treated as confirmation that Demon's Souls is fully playable on PC. The footage used a fork/local build that had not been released on KytyPS5's public GitHub repository and covered only a few locations, leaving overall stability and full-game performance unproven.
The hardware involved also puts the demonstration well outside what most PC players can currently reproduce. For now, Demon's Souls is better viewed as a sign of how quickly PS5 emulation is advancing rather than a game that has reached the same playable status as SharpEmu's six tested titles.
