Baldur's Gate 3 Fans Restore Cut Early Access Dream Visitor Scenes

July 24, 2026·4 min read

Before Baldur's Gate 3 gave players the Guardian, its dream visitor was a stranger and more tempting figure. Early Access players met a character fans later called Daisy, who appeared after tadpole use and tried to pull the player deeper into Illithid power. Those scenes disappeared when Larian rewrote the story for the full release.

Modder HyperspaceTowel has now brought that abandoned route back through Early Access Dream Visitor Restored. The PC mod replaces the two Guardian dreams in Act 1 with four Daisy scenes, adds companion reactions after each visit, and returns the older Illithid abilities tied to them. It gives returning players a playable look at one of the game's biggest story changes.

Four Daisy Dreams Return to Act 1

The Early Access dream visitor speaks to the player during a restored Baldur’s Gate 3 camp scene.

The restored route starts after the player hears the voice of the Absolute and continues as more tadpole powers are used. Daisy appears in camp and offers comfort, attention, and power while asking the player to let her further into their mind. Each dream now feels connected to choices made during normal quests rather than appearing as a separate story scene.

Four sequences take the place of the two Guardian visits from the finished game, with later dreams unlocked through continued tadpole use. The mod also restores the earlier character creation location used for the visitor and the Illithid powers built around this version of the story. Once the player reaches the Astral Prism or Act 2, the final game's main plot takes control again.

The scenes have been cleaned up for the current version instead of being added without changes. Camera work and timing received fixes, and players can speak with every available companion after a dream rather than choosing only one reaction. Those conversations connect the cut route to the wider party and show how differently the group viewed the tadpole during Early Access.

Daisy Makes Illithid Power Feel Riskier

A shadowed armoured figure with glowing red eyes stands inside a surreal crimson dream sequence.

The Guardian presents tadpole powers as useful tools and claims to protect the party from transformation. Daisy takes a softer and more personal approach, using affection and desire to make the same powers feel safe. Her scenes are less about explaining a plan and more about making the player comfortable with giving up control.

That change gives Illithid dialogue choices a stronger cost during Act 1. Using the tadpole does not only unlock an easier answer or a useful ability, because it also moves the player closer to someone whose motives are hard to trust. The dreams turn power into part of a relationship, making every use feel more personal than a normal upgrade.

The final rewrite created more uncertainty around the visitor and gave the Emperor more room to work. Daisy's route is easier to read as temptation, but that directness gives the early story its own unsettling tone. The mod does not prove the older plan was better, though it shows why some Early Access players still remember these scenes.

Fresh Saves Give the Best Result

Players should install the mod before starting a new campaign because the first two Daisy dreams can be missed on an existing save. Removing it halfway through a playthrough is also not recommended, since it adds events and characters tied to the campaign. The mod works on PC and can be enabled through the in-game manager after its file is placed in the Mods folder.

Compatibility is good with HyperspaceTowel's larger Early Access Scenes Restored project, which brings back more than 100 conversations and over 1,000 voiced lines from older builds. It conflicts with Astarion's Nightmare because the Daisy mod already contains both restored Astarion scenes, so that separate file should be removed first.

Some visual problems can still appear with strong body types, Half-Orcs, and Dragonborn because the old animations were not made for every later character option. That roughness is the price of bringing a rewritten route into the finished game, but it also makes the project feel different from a normal content mod. Players can now experience Daisy's version of Act 1 instead of watching it through old videos.
